Shes not inocent here either. She isnt getting that he dosent want her. Hes even dating other people, (even if hes downplaying it) and is clearly anoyed thats she asserted herself uninvited.
Abe has some fault forcarrying on like there isnt a big problen with him&her, but Ruby definately tried to sabotage a buding relationship for her biased purposes.

Boy this is relatable, painful to read good way. I've almost ended up in a situation like this and I have a friend who got fully caught in one. She was just using him for his body, but he was afraid of being alone if he dumped her. Fortunately he managed to get out and moved on, thank the gods.
Yeah that desire to stay in a toxic situation just because your more afraid of being alone. Or even start something new and better due to that fear of being made alone again later. Vicious cycle. Again I do think you have captured that vibe that people generate when they are like that.
Indeed goes to show that even the Adonis' of the world, who can get any man or woman just by looks alone, can have their hang ups. Hell they may even resent their natural handsomeness, especially if they think it brings nothing but trouble (I've got a similar idea for my deuteragonist, my protagonist love interest; handsome chivalric knight whose a ray of sunshine good soft boi, but with a lot of mental baggage and insecurities).
And there goes my "not being mindful of Ruby's feelings"... in that he's aware of them, and aware that keeping her around is bad for both of them, but he's having a hard time cutting things off. Personally I'm just glad that people are actually talking about this rather than this being stretched out over years like a soap opera. Kudos!
