So this is unfinished, and represents my first attempt at a background in, like, ever maybe. Years, certainly.
CRITITUE ENCOURAGED. No really guys what is wrong? I can't work on it anymore without screwing it up and it doesn't look right to me fffffff.

The painted looks is awesome.
I think that front right leg seems to be jutting out too far in an uncomfortable position compared to how the front left leg looks.
I wish I was any good at foreshortening to I can redline it for you. This picture might be of some use, it's not the post you're going for but it shows great paw foreshortening.

This fix is showing a pretty comfortable position close to what you're going for.

is a pretty new community but you may get more help showing it there.
I hope I was of some use to you. So far it looks amazing, I hope to see if finished.

Oh god backgrounds are the most difficult part :(. Though I would say it's coming along lovely so far! I like the colors you've involved there.
Personally, the stronger areas of the painting that I tend to focus on are both the wing and the head. Since this is a work in progress, It could possibly be that they have received more attention as they both seem pretty detailed. The area beneath the wing is where it becomes slightly weaker. The hind leg in particular is going to have some perspective magic involved and is going to be challenging. Right now its as if there are no joints or knee present at all so it seems stumpy (This could be the nature of the WIP, though). His/Her left forepaw has a highlight on the thumb that goes a little bit too far back to the wrist; It's creating a strange effect on the anatomy in that I see the thumb crossing over the other digits. My final nitpick is with the body- while resting against the earth, it still seems very flat and horizontal. Perhaps when the hindleg is finished, this might be a non-issue.
I hope that helps! Hopefully we'll see the finished piece soon! Also, you need to give yourself more credit for digital coloring >/ *NAG*

Good to see you drawing again, Pan.
For critique, I will echo what Mazz has posted. But I would also say that the rear leg looks too small and the area around the knee is not the right shape. These might be useful references: This; http://ourdems.org/kenya/p10LastPag.....ionResting.jpg or this http://www.destination360.com/afric.....on-safaris.jpg
