Guests were a common sight at the Imperial Palace, its doors open to pilgrims
from across the empire regardless of their status as a village peasant or noble.
The villagers - accustomed to their small, modest homes - gasped at it's size
and grandeur. Huddled together, they would whisper amongst themselves
in reverent awe, "How lovely. How grand!"
As is tradition, visitors would leave their dusty shoes at the entrance, the wood
floors polished and washed. Through golden hallways and past intricate paintings,
visitors are escorted deeper within the palatial estate until they reached the final
destination of their long journey. Beyond double doors engraved with
ornamentation, a princess welcomed her esteemed guests into a room for tea
ceremonies.
"Welcome! Please, take a seat," she chimed cheerfully, indifferent to the station
or status of those in her care.
