he stands almost as high as the tree i had planted days ago. it's strange to think about now, but as he looms over the pot, feet seemingly planted in the damp soil, it's almost as if he's alive. it's strange to think about, actually.
he doesn't say much, but if one were to look carefully, they'd notice how his chest lifts up and down only slightly, to hint at any evidence of 'life'. everyone knows plants are living things, however, i think this gives that theory an entirely different meaning.
sometimes, i notice his eyes open- or is it a she? i never thought about that. sometimes, we never think about things, and only make assumptions based on what we see. i assume he is some sort of being born from the tree which has yet to bloom, if only because i haven't watered it in a few days. maybe it sprouted, as if he were begging for air. it's ironic, however, if only because he seems so calm, standing, breathing- a slight smile on his face, though it also seems uncertain. for the past day, i've wondered why that is.
you'd figure if he were begging for a more stable lifesource, he'd look desperate, pleading even. but day after day, he seems so serene, i want to reach out, touch his head- maybe then he'd say something like "hey, don't touch me" or even ask to be pet more. that would be silly, on account of him being a tree and all.
i've gone and named 'him' pomme, for the tree he's been birthed from, as well as the buds growing on the side of his head. it also seems to fit him, since i think he's cute, and well, i'm used to naming my assortment of flowers- what's one more with the possibility of a personality?
it's still a mystery how he himself has been growing, and yet the tree stays the same. maybe, if he responds to me in some way- someday, he'll tell me why.
even though he's as silent as can be, i still find it interesting that such a creature can be so intriguing without doing anything. maybe he can explain that to me, too.
