Viridian Forest isn't EVEN a cakewalk for Pidgey and Charmander. Srsly.
Speaking of which, everyone always goes all "BAW THE THIRD STARTER IS LEFT ALL ALONE SITTING THERE FOREVER SADFAEC ;_;". I felt obligated to subvert that for once. :I

Wait, what? No, Pidgey doesn't evolve at Level 14. Hell, I thought it was gonna evolve at Level 16 myself, but it didn't. I think it's actually Level 18 it does so. Makes sense since it evolves to Pidgeot at Level 36, exactly twice that number. I need to remember that. :C
That makes it sound even harder. Probably the only kind of challenge I might do is get one Pokémon to a certain level, then level the rest of the team one at a time, using in all battles, giving them EXP. share, saving before each battle as I restart if I lose the one I'm doing, till they're at the level then I switch off to another. For Soul Silver, my Eevee tried evolving on me twice to an Umbreon before I gave her an Everstone and trained her that way. I was happy that she was happy enough to evolve, but I wanted a Vaporeon and I didn't have a Water Stone yet. Same for Heart Gold. Gave my Eevee there an Everstone as I didn't want her to evolve into an Espeon without learning Bite as an Eevee. Got both Bite and Swift at the same time, Swift after evolving. Some people don't evolve their Pokémon, another challenge, or they wait on evolving till they have certain moves. I'm like that for some. Some rules they set even have you use only Pokémon of one color, and you can only get another color if you're going to use it as an HM slave.
Ehhhh, that's just the thing about the challenge though. You screw up and your mon dies, there's nothing you can do about it. You can't just reset until things go right. That defeats the whole purpose of the Nuzlocke run. If you did that, there's practically no difference between Nuzlocke and a regular run difficulty-wise except you have to reset instead of just going back to a center. :l
Heh.... true. Resetting is cheating in a way if doing a challenge like that. Still, kind of how I am about training, but I didn't restart when doing the league on Soul Silver, even after loosing someone. I never really restarted when I first started Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I just..... head to the nearest center. Never restarted after I lost the Pokémon I was using in the Bug-catching contest on Heart Gold, though I did save before entering. I lost, but I got a perfect Scyther out of it. Main reason why I didn't restart. I wanted to check the nature of the Scyther I caught. Main reason why I did the Big-catching contest. Only place to get a Scyther, even if they are rare.
Yeah. Much easier than that. The Safari zone is a pain. Chance of them fleeing, and bait/getting close helps only somewhat. That.... and for third gen, Scyther can only be gotten in Fire Red. Eh. Not real fond of the Safari Zone myself, though for the current one, object placing is interesting for Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokémon. Some take way more than the max of objects you can place, so you need to wait till the area goes up in rank, but it's worth it.
