Had gone into a bit of Total War: Warhammer II but had a long-standing interest with Lizardmen since 2015, which led to this.
As I was building my low-priority fantasy world, I had a different aesthetic in mind of drawing some lizard people (spc. thinking of mixing 'generic Mesoamerican' that many lizardfolk/reptilian fantasy races keep falling into and the Mughals or 15th-18th century India together) for another project around some generic lizardfolk, but it ended up unintentionally having a different one to me or at least how I thought of it. It isn't necessarily a copy-to-copy, rather I had the idea of it being influenced or being aesthetically similar.
I don't know, I really want to do some lizard things, but maybe I should relegate what's left of this side project and integrate it into a larger project instead with all the other things that I already developed, since you know, lizards are fun to draw compared to drawing 5,000 mammals like I have behind the scenes. Canonically though, I don't want them lumped with mammals, so I'm thinking they developed independently or originate from somewhere else, but I'll figure it out someday - maybe as a small group of underground warriors that are obsessed with the past that somehow wound up in Earth.
