ourneyman Warcaster
Cygnar Solo, Warmachine
Before they can hope to become a full fledged warcaster, a potential must spend at least one tour (a year) as a Journeyman, apprenticed to a veteran 'caster. They are typically given a battered up old warjack and sent into battle with a big red target painted on them.
While they are not too spiffy in the game, they are very helpful. They can soak up a bit of damage, are good for commanding a warjack that really doesnt fit anywhere else, and are good enough fighters to be an annoyance to the enemy. Also, should a warcaster fall, Jr can step in and reactivate wany warjacks. Not a good plan, but better than losing.
In my army, this guy is part bodyguard & part insurance. His lot in life is to boost Nemo's armor with his magic and jump in the path of any nasties that might want to take a chunk out of the old guy. Should the worst happen, its his job to command the Thunderhead... Im glad its never come to this.
Beowulf got his name after the last battle. My opponent had this ogre bodyguard thingy (named 'Grendel') that he sent after Nemo. Doing his impression of a Star Fleet 'Red Shirt,' Jr. unloaded a round from his oversized pistol, dove in, engaged, and miraculously won. Name just seemed right.
