Jamie's life ambition is to become a Pokemon Ranger alongside his inseparable Odytt friend, Dabby. He is able to apply for a position at the age of 14, but until then, he's undergoing some vigorous training to ensure he gets in from experience and devotion alone.

Dabby is a Pokemon who form-weaves things, changing their forms. In the case of Jamie, she changes his body into that of a Pokemon, forming a sort of inverse trainer/Pokemon relation between the two. Jamie the trainer is the one who does the battling while Dabby supports him with real-time transformations based on the scenarios presented.

Surviving on their own in the wilderness as part of a rangers camp provides quite a variety of situations, but it's nothing the two of them together can't handle.
