Hey folks while I am building up plastic beads for my next bit of jewelry here is something!
Jewelry obviously is made from many different materials both natural and scavenged but, as I mostly work copper, here is a quick braided wire bracelet. Some jewelry is hammered from nuggets and some is made from scrap metal and in this case, I took the time to polish it.
The manufacture is easy. I started with a length of copper wire, polished it gently with a piece of granite so it would shine, broke it into two pieces and folded those two pieces in half and started braiding. It all took aboutt 45 minutes to make. In the future I will likely smash it flatter into a ribbon and work in beads, feathers, or other decorations to add onto it, this is a pretty basic wire bracelet.
The other option is to work a nugget or piece of scrap metal into the form which would result in a much more solid bracelet, but I quite like the texture here.
Jewelry is an important aspect of a dreks life, it can serve a lot of social, status, or cultural and religious functions within a society and while there is a ton of variety bracelets like these appear in a lot of cultures. While copper wire had melted largely during the pulse and the massive fires and magical forces afterwards, it does still exist. Braiding copper wire is also very easy to do and I imagine plenty of drekir would see it as prime jewelry making. Of course drekir might not make bracelets and may more commonly make either anklets or tailbase bands, though bracelets aren't unheard of necessarily (its more drekir in many cultures don't associate beauty or fashion with the arms). There is of course hammered nuggets or other sorts of copper and aluminum jewelry on top of things like Plastics, decorative stones, carved or polished wood, bone, shells, and many other materials for beads and jewelry which I want to explore later.
but yeah, bracelets! I actually like this one and I have started just wearing it as a daily bit of my outfit, I enjoy the simplicity and copper has that color that is just great.

Oh sure and there are societies that do that (broncens). Though most economies are barter and smelting (purposing the copper into a larger useful thing) is slow to pick up so that bracelet may not be the most useful.
It can be a social show of wealth, like the broncenfashion statement of “we have so much metal we wear it casually come trade with us”.
But generally in barter a drek would trade for its aesthetic value more than its practical worth.
