Year of the Tiger- Part 1
To start the year of the tiger, we chose to take one of the tiger dancers from Zootopia and make sure he has a very prosperous new year. You can see the whole sequence on Big Stories now, and see what we're doing to Wilford this month, for as little as $2 a month! Check it out here: https://www.patreon.com/bigstories
Being a back-up dancer is hardly the most glamorous job in show business, and being part of a sextuplet dance troupe with five identical brothers left Terry feeling particularly lost in the crowd as of late. He and his other tiger brothers had been touring with Gazelle for a very long time, but now that the tour was over, the Lightning Stripes Bros. dancing troupe needed to find a new job- which also meant a routine that Terry dreaded. For years, in the build-up to finding new work, the brothers would go into intensive training; constant dance exercises, cardio, and a stringent, spartan diet. Terry wasn't afraid of hard work, but this was all about grueling, punishing exercises that left him with aches that left for days, little time to himself, and the blandest food- little protein, lots of carbs, and for carnivores working in Zootopia, that meant very, very limited options; usually boiled fish and bug protein bars. Terry furrowed his brow, thinking about how much the next few months would suck the life out of him. Unless…
"Actually, guys," Terry said as his brothers were talking about how to structure their training. "I… uh. I think I'm going to… take a break."
Barry, the eldest brother and de facto leader, glanced at his watch. "Alright. Get a cup of water and get back here in five, Terry."
"Uhm. No, I mean, I think I'm going to take a break from dancing."
The other brothers exchanged looks, shrugging. Gary, the second eldest, looked at Terry with some concern. "Are you feeling okay? Do we need to get you to a doctor or something?"
Terry sighed- his brothers lived for dancing. How could he explain this to them? "I think… I would like to pursue a, uh- solo project. You know, since we're in between jobs and everything."
His other brothers muttered, unsure. The youngest, Larry, wobbled his hand. "I don't know, Terry… we all remember Jerry's interpretive dance recital."
Jerry glared venomously at his brother. "The Zootopia Revue said it was bold and experimental!"
"...in the same way Frankenstein's monster was bold and experimental," Barry added drily, finishing the quote. The others all turned to their oldest. Barry sighed, waving Terry off. "If that's what you want. But, this is a one time thing, yes?"
"Right, of course."
"Oh, and Terry? You'll let us know when the show is, right?"
Terry hesitated for a moment. "Uh- right, yeah- of course!"
Before his brothers could question anything further, he slipped out of the room. The well-built tiger glanced down at his sad looking lunch- more bug protein. His nose wrinkled, and he threw it away- first order of business was to get some good food for once.
