And here we have Silas, one of Xander's teammates. Also a draft prospect. Same court, taken during a spontaneous dunk contest held between a few of the guys. ^^

One of the things I love most about basketball is how much personal style there is in how each player moves. Dunking in particular-- some guys hold the ball high and put their other arm behind them for balance. Some pop off the calves and bring their feet up behind their bodies when going up. Some keep the ball low until the last moment to slip the rock into the cup. It's such a personal style thing that you can identify people by the way they dunk.
In this case, it's clear Silas started right underneath the basket, not flying in from the side. He's got a scissor-leg style where he splits his feet after going up, and he's holding the rock out to the side with his other hand in front of his body for balance. No doubt a coach would scold him for keeping the ball out so far-- it makes it easier for a defender to get a paw on it. But as you say, this is a dunk contest, so he's just showing off his style. And the rodent's got some very nice style going up. Always fun to see a little guy get over the rim. (Nate Robinson, anyone?)
Awesome, awesome pic, C-Cat.
