"Colombia" was in the running for our National Anthem. The National Anthem was not ratified by congress till 1916 (although it was in general use in 1911 and used by the Navy in the 1890's)

Biggest problem is that it is almost identical to "England The Gem of The Ocean", including most of the lyrics.
