You know, when I was much younger, I once read in a book that the Moon's orbit is slowly decaying. Eventually it's orbit will decay to the point that the forces from its motion and the Earth's gravity will cause it to break in half, then those pieces break in half.. et cetera until it becomes a debris field that coalesces into rings much like Saturn's, just, uh.. not made of ice. I really hope that's true, because when it does happen it'll be beautiful.

While the Mood is moving, it's moving away from us. I think about a foot each year.
So what will eventually happen is the Moon will leave us.
