The more scholarly folk discuss Mordecai's emotion splinters, and how they work. Strive is shooed out of the room to discuss battle plans, but a chance encounter with a saintly creature pushes him back on the right path. It's going to be okay.
The splinter diagram is a bad MSPaint + Mouse art from me. Behold! I still have some art skills. Some.
Art is cribbed from the internet(from copypasta with MSPaint cleanups by me, specifically).
Strive is still singing the ostrich song from last chapter.
Mood Music - Mr. Potato Head Arrives
NOTE: The votes in this chapter are Extremely Important. Please take care before deciding on battle lines.
Also you get to name the two potatoes, if you fear responsibility yet crave power.
Basically we're setting up the parties for the end of Act 1. It's the final dungeon! Of the first disc. Also the first dungeon, but it's hard to find dungeons on modern Earth, you know? Pick your units, give reasons why, and plot the downfall of the douchecanoe under the mountain.

It's finally here! (Also, this is only Act 1? I'd have thought Act 1 or maybe Act 2 ended with the grocery store attack.)
I recognize those song lyrics without having ever clicked the link... which episode of Scooby-Doo was that song in, again?
Lessee now. I hate making big decisions, but I think I can cast some votes.
Attack Schedule: Wait a Few Days. We could definitely use the extra time to heal and prepare, and we did vote Attack as the bottom priority.
Outer Unit: Alistair as medic, Petrus as scout, Lara as restrainer, Nier (or is it Neir?) wherever he's needed. I want to avoid incurring more debt by putting Rapture troops in the Support Unit, so this is the only place they can go. Conveniently, they fill this unit perfectly.
Support Unit: Kestrel and Lance as ranged, Tundra as melee, Martin as vent runner. Kestrel's group is actually fairly balanced, and neatly fill this unit and all its responsibilities. I am earning ALL the synergy bonuses with this setup.
Strike Unit: Strive, Dawn, Leon, Morris. It's only right that we send in our core members to finish this, but I'm swapping Beast out for Morris just in case we need stealth for something.
Capybara and Guinea Pig: Yin for the Destroyer; Yang for the Preserver. I am NOT allowing the capybara to be named Mr. Potato Head; I want a name that at least sounds slightly dignified.

Scooby Doo Episode: "Creeper! CREEPER!"
You'll see why it's the end of act 1. Soon!
Rapture Together is a nice pick.
Kestrel Together is interesting, but not unwelcome. I suppose Martin is small enough to vent run, and their only movement restriction is Tundra as a Large fluffer.
Imagine Strive attempting to be sneaky. He would be very small and silent, except for the part where he hums the Metal Gear Solid music. *!*
Yin and Yang are reasonable. I figured people wouldn't want to go with the hindu Vishnu and Shiva version in the tags, but it's nice to see a similar carrying on with the theme.
Strive as Brahma(n) would specifically be the giant infinity train version from DDS2. So long. Where will it go? We don't know because Infinity Train was cancelled. (Good music in the link)

Attack Schedule: Wait One Day and send a very strong warning. Give 24 hours for any other deserters to leave. That way we can be less hesitant when we finally attack after One More Day. The time for diplomacy is drawing to a close.
Strike Unit: Kestrel, Troy, Beast, Tundra. Maximize damage and HP. We need to finish this, and it will be messy.
Support Unit: Strive, Dawn, Tundra, Sir William. Of the units which could traverse the vents, William has a shield spell, so I chose him.
No strong opinion on the rest.

Putting Tundra in both groups is just tactics.
It doubles his power in one failed swoop!

Oh, are we supposed to vote now on what to turn Mordecai into if/when we get the opportunity? I propose we turn him into something honeybee-related. I have my reasons:
- That splinter-thing bears a strong resemblance to a bee stinger. He's obviously no stranger to stingers, but maybe being unable to leave one in someone without dying will convince him to do so more sparingly.
- Honeybees have strict gender roles, so this TF may come with a TG, which would most likely take our testosterone-fueled warmonger down a peg.
- As I mentioned on Discord a while back, honeybees mean a source of honey, which in turn means improved ration quality. Pancakes with honey, anyone?

I'd say wait a few days to attack, let them stew in their low moral for a while while we try to save the spiked prisoners from themselves. We could drop leaflets on them illustrating our efforts in that regard, maybe convince some of them that the spikes were a bad idea.
I have no strong opinions on team comp.
As for Mordecai, it depends. The first thing I would want to do is make sure that he wasn't simply the first victim of his own incompetence. That is, did he spike himself while developing these emotion spikes and accidentally broke himself. I don't think so, he was an ass since the start and shouldn't have had magic right away? Still double check to see if we need to heal him too.
More likely he is evil on purpose, in that case I vote for a fractal abstract art piece that is constantly transforming into itself. I want him to act as the energy sink to a proper anti tf measure. As long as people believe that the only way to avoid unwanted magics is people like Mordy here then they will get recruits who rationalize it as "the lesser evil". We should be able to beat them at this though, since we aren't too terrified of magic to actually learn how to use it. Plus we will probably face tf attacks at some point in the future, having a way to deal with it doesn't stop being important once you stop being human.

I agree with thingsaren'tsobad's suggestion of Wait One Day
Outer team: Leon, Bluejay, Rand, Tundra. We need the medic protected, prisoners pacified, and good defensive strength if there's a complication. Tundra's a key point man for that. Leon raises everybody's morale but he's not at full health yet, so we use him as a scout.
Support team: Kestral, Morris, Sir William, Forest. Heavy ranged support, small and flying capabilities, another good medic, and a level 4 Detective for maximum information gathering.
Strike team: Strive, Dawn, Beast, Troy. There can be no real diplomacy with Mordecai, but I don't want to deny Troy his opportunity at Dramatic Closure. This offers the best chance at Special Dialogue. Plus a tank and a lot of TF power. At this point I should point out that short term inanimate TF is a great way to protect and contain those who surrender. I would imagine that normally-lethal Splinter damage might be reversible before they "thaw."
Well, since he hates TF so much, we could turn Mordecai into something nature's left pretty much the same for a hundred million years or more - like a shark, alligator, or ginkgo tree. He's also a venomous little asshole who lives underground, we could make him a snake. But I think my main suggestion is similar to SI's above - turn Mordecai into a colony of ants. It suits both my above suggestions, but also he'll get the organized, mindless drones to control that he always wanted.

You're not entirely wrong, but the outer team is in theory the least in danger, and Tundra and Leon can protect them. You had me checking if Forest is marked as a noncombatant - he's not, and he's our highest level dedicated medic and brings loads of utility to the party, so I'd use him here even if he was.
