Karajasem are creatures shaped for the desert regions of Bothea. They are very common mounts and it's not rare to see them. This creature needs to be trained before being used as a mount. They are taken at birth to be used to Yevatem's presence, and they're trained as soon as they're big enough to be ridden. Yevatem teach them a code with taps on their legs: small taps on a leg or another to indicate the direction, and pushing firmly on both legs to stop. Yevatem jump to grab one leg and rise up to sit on the beast's back.
Karajasem are slow in general, but very tough and resistant; they can walk for days without food or water.
They eat rocks and sand, from which their incredible stomach extract minerals. They need to drink only once per month, and a small quantity is enough. Occasionally, they can hydrate from the humidity in the air. They'll sometimes (but rarely) eat small animals such as zayetem, but only when they're thirsty (using the animal's blood for hydratation.)
- Their incredible strenght makes them the preffered mount to carry heavy things. They're also used a lot for home-building.
- They're mostly seen in the desert regions but they adapt very well to the jungle if they're pushed inside.
- Several weeks after mating, they will lay a thousand of eggs through their sting, and will abandon the eggs. The eggs are very small. They have an awful taste. The eggs will all hatch in the same time, and the babies are so small that a Yevat could hold a dozen in the palm of his hand. From the hundred of babies, only a few will survive in the wild, the other being eaten by Bothea's wildlife. Adults, their only predators are Varveleilem. Breeder will not often keep the hundred of babies, and will select them; they'll often select the biggest and strongest ones. For this reason, domesticated Karajasem tend to be bigger and stronger than wild ones. They'll need about a cycle to reach their final adult size, but they grow big real quick - then keep growing more slowly.
- In the wild, they'll wander alone and rarely mate (up to once in their life.) Domesticated, they can reproduce a lot more and they shall be separated to avoid a baby invasion in the town. They are all hermaphrodite and can mate with any other Karajasa. To mate, they stick their butts like insects do. If the sting is unharmful for Yevatem, it's sometimes cut off the beast by breeders. Most of time, it's to avoid Karajasem to harm other mounts. Cutting the sting makes the Karajasa sterile.
Possible variations:
- Their size vary, but wild ones are usually smaller than domesticated ones
- They can be slimmer, or more fat.
- Quills are optional, and can vary a lot. They also can be present anywhere on their body, so go wild with these!
- Their neck length may vary, but keep in mind that they need to reach the ground to eat.
- Their claws and sting can vary in shape and size as well.
- They will tend to have desaturated colors - but they can have more saturated accents (no more that 1/4 of the body)
Must have:
- Four legs with 3 toes and big claws
- An eagle beak and no eyes
- A neck at least as long as the body.
Species authorisations:
Pets and mounts guide
- Karajasa/em are a semi-open / semi-closed species. You need to own a Karajasa leash to create and sell them!
- You can exchange a leash for Yevatokens in the Reward shop
- If (and only IF) you own a Karajasa leash, you can create as many Karajasem as you want, and keep it for personal use or sell them for any price.
- Once you bought the leash, you are free to ask for these lines as a free base to make them.
- You can buy and own a Karajasa even if you don't have the leash. (You just can't make them.)
- Making art of these will not grant you any Yevatokens.
- They must evolve on Bothea, the Yevat's home planet.
