From bad to worse. The bird monster wasn't alone. 😢
At this point I'd be seriously thinking about running for my life if I were those two. This is a "bring out an entire army company so they don't kill all your damn scouts" situation at this point.
Apropro of nothing the design of the titular beasts REALLY reminds me of the Area X/Southern Reach series, which is nothing but good. The force behind the "Shimmer" made some truly horrific monsters, and these are just as horrifying, hostile and deadly as they were. Good job creating a damn good reason for the poor protagonists to be terrified out of their heads.
