To go with my rat journal from earlier...
This picture is from January 2008 - a litter of rats that I had brought home from Petsmart. Our store was only supposed to carry males, but somehow a female had gotten mixed in and naturally, she ended up prego. So she had her babies and I adopted mom and the whole litter. ^_^
This was just a silly pic I took one day...not sure how old they were here, but likely only a few days. They wanted to say Hi. :3
I think someone should totally start a Rat page here on FA. ;) I has LOTS of pics. :D

And before anyone gripes about me handling them:
I have raised MANY baby rats, and I know how to handle them safely. The mother was comfortable with me picking them up and I always made sure to scent my hands with some of their litter before doing so. Also, it was quite toasty in my apartment, so they were in no danger of getting cold.
Handling baby rats every day is actually a good idea, it helps them become familiar with your scent and get used to being handled, plus its a good way to check on them and make sure everyone's okay. ;)

awe. This reminds me of when I was a kid. We bought two gerbils from Petco and they promised us they were both female, well, one was male and we ended up with a litter. We ended up making an economics project out of it (We were homeschooled) and there was a locally owned petstore that bought the babies off us once they were weeks old. We sold him our Male and kept one of the baby girls.
I just remember how sweet and the tiny sounds they made when they were this small :)
