Braenwyen had heard through the grape-vine that some of the medicine-gryphs had been asking for able-bodied youngsters to journey to Tookie Island to find a medicinal fruit. It had been described to her as a "golden apple." She was eager to prove herself to her elders, so she packed a leather satchel and flew off.
With her she brought an iron blade, flint, a small coil of rope, calming smoking-herbs, and a few pieces of dried meat. It would never be said that any member of the Umbra family would be ill-prepared.
The flight there was simple - air-currents from the mainland carried her wistfully to Tookie Island. She admired the azure ocean below her and flew until the orb of Vistle hung above her like a lamp.
She landed on a crystalline beach and savored the feeling of sand on her paws. From inside the jungle she could hear the calls of the natives; she prayed a quick prayer to Reindist, asking for cunning and secrecy. She didn't know what she would find.
Once in the jungle Braenwyen found that the foliage was so thick she would have to climb to get the fruit. Annoyed but not disheartened she stealthily continued into the heart of the forest. Sporadically she could hear something rustling above or beside her, and she thought she could hear whispering.
She stopped at a small clearing and - feeling dozens of eyes boring into her from just beyond sight - she decided to offer the natives and their spirits an offering. She struck the flint with her blade and burned some of the herbs, fanning the embers with her wings. Immediately she could feel the effects of the smoke, and she felt much more comfortable. She offered a prayer to the ghosts of this place and left her dried fruit as an offering to the natives.
She walked off and continued the search - looking above she finally saw a cluster of fruits that looked like tiny Vistles hung in a tree. She knew these had to be it, for any fruit with the appearance of the sun had to have medicinal properties.
She climbed less than skillfully, but climb she did. She finally perched herself on one of the lowest-hanging branches and managed to pick three fruits, pack them in her leather satchel, and preen herself.
She climbed to the canopy of the jungle and alighted into the twilight sky. As she flew off she smiled contentedly at a job well done and a quiet adventure.

. . . and somewhere on Tookie island a few miscellaneous islanders got super-stoned and were thankful for the munchies ^__^
so anyway, my first entry for the group Windsonde. of all the scenes from Braenwyen's "adventure" i wanted to do the most peaceful. i also wanted to work on sunset-color-themes so there ya go.
i suppose i could have spent a lot more time on this, but i had so much trouble with the waves that i just wanted to let it be. it was a good experiment, and i learned a lot for the next time, and i will improve slowly. :3
