Nicholas and Nathaniel's mother, Betty, willed her diaries to her sons. They are now the brothers most cherished possessions, letting them learn about her and who she was.
Their mother loves watching her sons learn about her. She can't talk to them, being a disembodied spirit, but they've picked up on the small interactions she can do. She uses her aura to keep insects away from the two when they go outside to read, for example. Something Nicholas and Nathaniel notice and greatly appreciate. Her sons have gotten their mothers urn a hat to help keep her cool in the sun.
Though she knew full well when she was alive that her sons would read some rather embarrassing details about herself, she never imagined that she would be able to watch them read her diaries. While she can't stop them, nor does she truly want to, Betty will gently flip the page with a gust of wind when they come to where there is something embarrassing. Her sons will gently boop the nose of the urn in reply to her page turning.
Many strong emotions come and go while reading about the person who willingly died so that they could live. The one that always stays is love.
