Disclaimer: This ain’t your typical story, just an opportunity for me to nerd out for a little bit ;)

I’ve known of the Monster Hunter series for a while and I always thought it was so fucking cool that you’re a person that can go around and swing a giant bonk stick against the side of a monster’s temple with relative ease and have it feel so satisfying to knock the beast over. I got introduced into the series when Monster Hunter World came out and it’s been a while since I’ve played a game where I sink 100s of hours into.

My overall experience was phenomenal, I started out as a complete noob and didn’t know how any of the weapons worked. But EVERY TIME I learned something new with what a weapon could do, I would be over the moon. I do my best to master sliding attacks, charged attacks, combos, and the type charts to have the chance to see the BIG number when you hit a monster.

The first weapon I ever used was the Insect Glaive and I had no idea what the hell I was doing but I did love flying through the air, that was pretty sick. Other weapons of choice were the massive bonk stick or better known as the hammer, the light bow gun, and some sword and shield on the side (I definitely have not master this weapon class yet). If I recall, most of my playthrough was with the light bowgun, the hammer second, and the insect glaive third. But no matter what, every time I pick up the glaive again, damn it’s so much fun collecting your speed, attack, and defense buff and you begin swinging the thing like a madman!

Now that I’m playing Monster Hunter Rise, my enjoyment rose even higher when they introduced the Wirebugs, or what I like to call the thing that makes you feel like Spider-Man and swing around everywhere. AND YOU CAN USE THEM IN TANDOM WITH YOUR WEAPONS TO DO COOL MOVES!!
