Ref Sheet for Ro'eeka
So here is my Character Ro'eeka you'll probably see more of her. She inspired by world of Warcraft's Hir'eek, Blood trolls and Vulpera. My dear vampire bat of a child. I love her, she is a mix between two worlds Vulpera and Chiroptera (Bat).
She has to wear custom clothing due to her wings being attached to her arms, unlike back wings.
Also speaks in a mix of bat chittering with a accent akin to that of zandalari troll ( Jamaican accent )
(Out Dated Background, Updated/ Revised changes to her story include she was born a Vulpbat first of her kind.)
Ro'ha Ro'eeka's Mother: (art of her soon and I'll be working on her Mini story to go along with it.)
Her mother was Vulpera devoted to her savor and loa Hir'eek. Though many have had their speculations over the years of Ro'eeka's life that her father Hir'eek sired a daughter with a vulpera. Not out of the question of god-like beings mingling with devout mortals or mortals in general. Not many questioned the lord of the midnight sky on the matter of his daughter. But Ro'eeka did as it was her right to ask such questions. He only spoke of the story of Ro'ah's life as a strong willed and free spirited soul that wanted nothing more than to make a difference in the little ripples that she could out in the harsh world. Hir'eek saved her when she and her family ran from exiled bandits from Zandalar when she was but a young dune hopper.
It was then her and her family devoted themself to following the teachings of Hir'eek in the little ways they could. Ro'ah grew up a strong independent vulpera that was not afraid to speak her mind and do what the truth of her heart asked of her. Long nights when others of her kind would fear the dark Ro'ah embraced it. She'd grown up gaining the trust of bats fluttering about the night sky. She believed that all bats were sacred to her loa.
They became her best friends, telling them all about her life’s dreams and troubles, being there for her as she was there for them. She, like her future daughter, hated those that enslaved others by chain or by mind. She went on through her life creating sanctuaries for bats and a place where she could help those she saved from slavery, teaching and guiding those who lost their way. She saved not only bats but those that were enslaved under the cover of night. Using Hir’eeks blessings to move under the protective wings of night as his children feasted on the wicked hearts of men. At one point Hir’eek even admitted to his daughter Ro’eeka that she even aided him in his time of need, though that is a story for a later time. Ro’ha was caught out in the daylight for making too many big ripples in the world against the wrong people.
Though as powerful as Loa's be they are not without their faults and their limitations against the weave of fate. She was attacked, fate’s hand hid the scissors from Hir’eeks vision, weaving past the protective boons to snip at her thread from betrayal within. Ro’ah fought saving not only herself but her Sanctuary of those she gave her life to. The strong willed heavily pregnant Vulpera found herself in Nazmir calling out Hir'eeks name as it poured heavy in the swamps of Nazmir. The bat’s she saved and befriended did their best to cover her from the rain, guiding her as she did them. He did not reach her in time. Bwonsamdi was there before Hir'eek, as the calling of death is the true end of mortals, no matter the loa they worship they pass by his guiding hand as his duty to over see Nazmir’s ever turning wheel. He is there when the fates of one thread are snipped and another is weaved into the Tapestry of life.
Though it is said he had not attempted to make a deal with Ro'ah, it was her very will to live that extended her life for her child. She was not mad at her loa or lost faith in him. She knew of the natural order of things and accepted her place in the natural order with no regrets. She was far more concerned for the child that has yet to be given a chance to breathe the live given air and to experience the world. Hir'eek knew there was little he could do for Ro'ah. But in failing to save one life, he saved another. In the final moments of Ro'ah clenched the claw of Hir'eek's paw and drank from his wrist the life giving blood of her loa. One final act to save her child. The time her head fell to the dark earth of Nazmir; Ro'eeka was born into the hands of Hir'eek.) ---
Hir'eek lord of Midnight.
Hir'eek saw a strong thread of destiny about the newborn pup in his large hands, a mix between two worlds with a gift for bringing prosperity or ruin. He took it upon himself to raise her as Ro’ah would have wished. His winged embrace cared for and raised Ro’eeka as one of his own children. She grew to be much like her mother with a kind heart under her wise fathers teachings along with Old Wunja and Zi'nareek, one of the High Priestesses that later betrayed Ro and Hir’eek and may in fact be the reason for Ro’ah’s death as she wanted the child for the false blood god G'huun. A terrible corruption grew like a cancerous cyst upon Nazmir. Lucky for Ro she was torn from this before it corrupted her.
Before Zi'nareek could finish the dark ritual to bend Ro'eeka's free will to her in the name of Ghuun. She was saved by her father Hir'eek, before he too succumbed to the corruption. Ro fled, exiling herself to the desert of Vol’dun a place where she used to escape too, a place where her mothers spirit resides inside her that always drew her too and a place her father never let her go too far from his influence. But this time she had to exile herself from Nazmir, fleeing the horrors like her brothers and sisters unable to save them only brought more suffering hearing their cries as she was in no shape to save anyone and was ordered to flee.
She fled to her late mothers sanctuary that she would sneak out too that was more in ruins and covered in her and her friends trinkets of their young pre-Ghuun adventures. Sadly it was sealed off from the shaking of the very earth as Azeroth bled. She felt drawn to the Atul'Aman temple; The Temple where she felt the “safest” to hide away. But really unbeknownst to her she was being controlled to feel like she was safe there. She was unaware of the foul corruption festering below the temple. The markings on her body that are permanent blood hex’s are only partially completed. Though Ro had a very strong will like her mother. Zi’nareek however was far more clever in weaving around her force of will by messing with her emotions. She used her to protect the temple till the time was right. Using a blood moon to send her out to spread fear and feast on the natives of Voldune near the temple. Earning her the title of Daughter of the crimson moon.
A blood curse that used her demi loa power to create blood mists that infected the minds of her prey and made her go into her dire bat form similar to Hir'eek's form. This curse plagued her mind and ate away at her free will, losing herself to her savage blood lust during said blood moon. This was till meeting Fenavi a vulpera x pirate that eventually befriended the suffering Vulpbat and introduced her to the Wild-hearts. A caravan of vulpera that aided her and really began her hero’s journey. Wild heart adventures unfolded leading them to face her arch enemy Zi’nareek and thus with their aid they slayed her. Preventing Ro'eeka from being a true monster. Being able to fully control herself, where once was a curse turned to a blessing. Ro'eeka wears her fathers furred mantle that Zi’nareek took from Hir’eek’s dead body as a source of power.
With the heroes of Azeroth killing G'huun things where looking up for her. She takes on her fathers mantle till he returns and becomes her own loa. Helping Nazmir recover and being another guardian to future generations. She still travels, living her life and now being a mother is raising new life with her Mate Fenavi and other members of her growing family. Her adventures is not over just new chapters to her on going tapestry of life.
Though she is one of a kind heart, do not underestimate her kindness for weakness for she has the blood of a beast god running through her veins. Her claws and fang's met the marks of those that drew her ire. She is strong of will, seeking out the chains of those minds that are shackled by abusers. Ro'eeka is blind in one sense but it doesn't stop her from seeing the world in another sense. Her ear’s pick up the world around her, painting her dark world in black and white static world much like Toph from Avatar.
She continues her travels with her family the Wildhearts alongside her mate Fenavi.
More Art over time, Probably going to redo this Ref at some point.
