Inhabitant and soldier of the continent of Laurentia or Eastern America, land supposed to be uninhabitable for being the place thought to be ubication of a devastating war in the speculative mythology of the Third World, ridden with hazard and disease transmitted straight from its cursed soil. Laurentia was supposed to be partitioned between the leading nations that emerged victorious after this war ended after its terrain became healthy again, but as these nations broke down to forces of internal unrest, and the new smaller states fighting over who was the authentic successor of their past selves, the question of how Laurentia was going to be partitioned was becoming a scandalous. Yet, the place was still not ready to be habitable again, or at least that's what people thought until the start of the third millenia where illegal expeditions to the continent would come back, not sick and cursed with the endemic diseases as expected, but wounded and dead to real bullets. The world was outraged knowing that their promised land was already inhabited by people, armed and willing to defend their home from intruders.
After a century, it's still little what outsiders know of these people in Laurentia. The power there doesn't move around states but warlords securing outposts and little cities with their armies, yet most of them share the same ideal of unearthing and deciphering the ideas that governed the past, making the scholars that are able to do this work the most respected caste. It is known that, despite their internal disagreements, the different factions will team up to meddle in the business of other countries, hoping for their dreams of revolution reching the horizons beyond their land. The people who Laurentia pretends to lend their support to are at least skeptical, and often not very welcoming of them for many differences and stigma. The people from Laurentia often appear with their faces and bodies affected by the disease known as the Curse of the Black Soil. Yet they somehow don't really seem affected beyond these physical manifestations, unlike the cases of Black Soil Curse outside of Laurentia that people fear as it's lethal with a couple of exceptions. As research in the scientific medical field advances, some experts have been expressing their desire to study this disease surrounded by so much mysticism
