This is an idea I've been sitting on for a while. It's always fun to insert Jinx into other franchises and see her cause chaos. One of my various ideas along that line was Jinx as a Maverick from the Megaman X series.
So, here's Jinx Nanofox, an experimental construction robot that uses radio controlled nanobot goo to reshape raw materials into finished structures in a fraction of the time and with an even smaller fraction of the labor and energy costs. In terms of rebuilding and repairing, she would have revolutionized the entire construction industry. But then she got infected by the Sigma Virus and now she uses her nanogoo to reshape the world to her liking.
What? Work for Sigma? Ha! No, Jinx doesn't work for anybody! Sure, the Sigma virus removed her restriction against harming others, but that doesn't mean she owes Sigma anything. Jinx is her own robot fox and does what she wants.
That statue of Dr. Light? Now it's a statue of herself. That building over there? Now it's a post-modernist sculpture (and a real pain to live in). Those reploid security forces that came to stop her? Now they're robot mice that consume garbage and break it down into the base components that her nanobots need to reproduce themselves (which, incidentally, has done wonders for waste disposal). That ice cream shop? She left it alone; Jinx likes ice cream.
Her level would be a warped and twisted cityscape messed up by her nanogoo. The stage would require a lot of unusual navigation, so if you haven't got the movement upgrades, her stage is absurdly difficult, with a lot of extreme jumps and slow climbing. The aesthetics of the level feature bizarre structures that clearly used to be buildings, but have been molded by Jinx's nanogoo into bizarre shapes that have no regard for the comfort of the residents Statues of herself would be formed from random things around the city, growing weirdly from sidewalks.
Unique enemies from her level would be cars and trucks nanogoo'd together to form clunky, power-ranger looking robots and the former reploid security forces converted into robot mice. The mice would be seen literally chewing the scenery to create the materials needed for Jinx to keep making her nanobots. As soon as X enters their agro range, however, they stop that and begin attempting to chew on him. While attached, they would slow him down, leaving him vulnerable to attacks from the standard enemies that Sigma sends to harass X. Hey, just because Jinx doesn't want to work for Sigma, that doesn't mean Sigma doesn't see helping her out as useful to his cause, right? I mean, she's still causing chaos and destroying human civilization. She may be doing it for her own reasons, but that's still Sigma's ultimate goal.
In the final boss fight, Jinx's attacks are mostly melee,, but there's a twist on that. She uses her nanogoo to reshape the stage, creating barriers to hinder X's movement and platforms to jump around on, giving her a lot of mobility. He most dangerous ability, however, is that she can spray X directly with her nanogoo. Once sprayed, X's speed is reduced and he loses his ability to jump, making him easy pray to Jinx's melee attacks. The goo also slowly breaks X down, causing steady damage as long as he remains trapped in it. If the goo reduces him to 0 health, instead of exploding, X gets reformatted into a toaster or microwave, or some other appliance. X can escape from the goo by moving away from the blob and jumping repeatedly to break free of it.
However, all Mavericks have their weaknesses and Jinx is no exception. Jinx's nanogoo is controlled a radio signal from her headpiece. If hit with an electrical attack, her headpiece short circuits temporarily, causing all the nanogoo she's released melt down and disperse, which reverts the stage back to normal, frees X from any goo blobs he's trapped in and temporarily stuns Jinx, leaving her open to his attacks instead.
When defeated, X gets to use her weapon: Nanogoo Spay. When used as a default weapon, it sprays a blob of nangoo that latches onto enemy robots, slowing them down and draining their health. If destroyed by the nanogoo, they have a higher chance to drop items, as the goo reshapes them into things useful for X's mission. The charged version of this weapon creates platforms that let X reach higher areas or get out of reach of enemies.
While I haven't designed a suite of Mavericks for this hypthetical game, her attack would be strong in particular against a Maverick who has a lot of ways for the goo to get inside, letting it do it's work faster. Such a boss would probably be one with either air or fire based attacks. Both robots would need to have vents on them - the former to blow air from, and the latter to vent heat out of to keep from overheating.
In a game with voice acting, the only person who could do her any justice would Hayashibara Megumi, who's ability to be over the top energetic as well as her versatility in vocal performances is a perfect match for Jinx's hardcore chaotic personality. Her English voice actor would probably end up being just some guy they found in the office, because, let's face it, American companies don't put a lot of money into hiring top-tier talent for video game dubs. But if I'm allowed to dream, my choice picks would be either Tress MacNeille if they wanted to try and give some gravitas to her menace, or Tara Strong if they wanted to instead lean into insanity. My personal preference would be McNeille, because I'm old-school and we old schools love us some McNeille, but I think either could do a good version of the character.
Yeah, I spent way too much time thinking about this.
