the bear is part of the adoption with the man, since the man is ... uh... a ranger.

As in the D&D class, but also his job. during the course of this comic the man has been trying to find the red robot cat that is not present in this specific picture, but whose core programming he is currently reweaving.
He totally can get it wet, but he can't deal with a bear doing bear things when he is already doing stuff that is way out of his league. that stuff was meant to work in a vacuum, so it's actually waterpoof to as a consequence, what it is not... is "error proof" which is exactly why it needed to be rewoven
