"... According to the Ancient Order's holy book, the god, Baojia, was created prior to the formation of the mortal world by the Gold Dragon from the treasures in his coffer. His bones and claws were made of gold, his fur of silken threads, his mane and tail of silver dust, his teeth of ivory, and his eyes of obsidian.
He was originally tasked with protecting his creator but, upon the creation of man, was ordered to hold the world of the mundane and the world of the divine apart to keep the celestial powers from obliterating the weaker mortals. He was revered as being one of the most powerful gods of the pantheon, with absolute control over the fate of mankind.
In more contemporary religions, he is viewed less favorably. The Zayban religion paints him as a demon who stole the post of the goddess out of jealousy and, when confronted, tried to annihilate the world. The quick thinking of the Lady Zayba saved humanity, as she threw him from his floating palace before he could complete his destructive spell. Upon hitting the ground, the earth tried to consume him but was unable due to his inorganic composition. Instead, it encased him in stone.
Whether either myth is true or if Baojia ever existed is a mystery, but there does exist a statue of the creature in a crater on the continent of Telenta. The crater, known to locals as Lion's Fall, was once a popular site for pilgrimages but, due to dangerous conditions, visitation to the area has gradually tapered off to nothing..."

I was aiming to redraw old drawings to try to break the art block. I ended up finding an old sketch on my other account, re-inking it, and re-coloring it because the old version annoyed me.
The original of this was one of the first pictures I did digitally, and can be seen here. I like the new version better; he looks kind of like a ghost or a statue.

They both have their pluses, I'd say. I like the very dramatic shading on the hair/mane on the older version, and the better shading shapes (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, YOUR SHADING HAS SHAPES) and more detailed inking on this one. (I'm gonna keep the older one in my favorites, but rest assured, this one is an improvement in some measureable ways. XD)
Ooh, you know what you should try doing, if you're going to redo things? Try redoing an old picture in edgy Pushi style. 8D
