Grabbing his bag of sugar pearls, Sarge smiled. His cupcakes were almost complete! Gingerly placing a sugar pearl onto the delicate frosting of each cupcake, Sarge felt a sense of pride in his handiwork. He grabbed one of the cupcakes and took a deep breath. <They're going to absolutely love these! My Comfort-For-All Vanilla cupcakes will put a smile on their face!>
Leaving the kitchen, Sarge tip-toed around the table and over a few pairs of shoes on the ground. He admitted that walking around upright was harder now that his legs were more... dog like.... He didn't mind, though. Having four fingers wasn't too awful, either. It certainly didn't stop him from baking.
"Sorry for the wait!" Sarge exclaimed, adjusting his focus to his guest in the living roo- Sarge stopped in his tracks. His guest wasn't sitting down anymore. "Wha-?" Scanning the room, Sarge spotted movement by his front door. Walking up, he could see his guest had put on their jacket... and their hand was on the door.
"Is... is everything okay?" Sarge asked.
The person jumped. Spinning around, the snapped. "Could you stop that already?!"
Sarge felt his arms lower. "Wha- What do you mean?"
The person put a hand to their forehead. "How can you just be so... happy all the time?" The person gestured to the cupcake in Sarge's hand. "I turned you into more of a feral dog and now you're making me cupcakes?"
"It's no bother!" Sarge smiled, holding the cupcake out. "You looked so upset, but I know it was an accident!"
"I don't CARE, Sarge!" the person belted out. "Stop trying to be kind to me! I'm not daft! There's no way I'd fall for someone being THIS kind!"
Sarge felt his heart sink. "What? It really isn't a big deal. I just thought you needed a friend-"
"We are not friends!" They yelled. Spinning around, they turned the knob and flung the door open. "I'm getting out of here before you poison me or something-"
"Is it because it's vanilla? I can make chocolate cupcakes instead!" Bending his ears back, Sarge looked down at the cupcake he had been cradling in his hands. His grip had tightened considerably. When he relaxed his fingers, he realized the cupcake had already been squished. His eyes began to water.
The person started to leave.
Sarge lifted a hand. "Please! Don't go!"
Before Sarge could say another word, the person stepped through the door and slammed it shut.
Beginning to sob, Sarge slowly lowered his hand. "I... I made you a cupcake."

SO, this drawing was... something. A while back, I commissioned an artist to draw a semi-feral Sarge... that never came around, though. So the idea of a semi-feral Sarge just stuck in my head for a long while. Seeing some art floating around made me finally decide to draw a fatwoof with doggo legs.
The catch, apparently, is how I progressed with the drawing. It started as drawing a semi-feral Sarge to drawing him with a cupcake... to drawing him sad with a cupcake... and it inadvertently became a bit of a vent piece about something I didn't realize had been weighing on me.
The short of it is: I've been getting a good few people telling me that it's impossible to be as kind as I am without having ulterior motives. They don't trust me because I'm too considerate/kind. I get where they're coming from, but it also gets confusing. Am I supposed to be ruder to people? Why? That only makes me feel bad.
BUT OTHERWISE, I wanna hug the poor fatwoof. He looks so sad! </3

I understand rude people are like that. But it Most likely it stems from there own panics or anxiety they have. With there inner demons to lash out on other people, rather then talking with them.
Even so, you are still a sweet kindhearted boy that makes great art, and huggable wuff bellies. And those cupcakes looks pretty good too ❤️

The emotions the art and story made me feel so sad, also your personal experience.
Im sorry that you have had to deal with it. I know at least a little bit how you feel, i am doing my best to be kind to people i meet tho i havent met such accusations. *gives you a big and loving hug* ^^

The story is a stand-alone thing I decided to write. There weren't any accusations against me, just people making passive comments every so often.
Honestly, it's a bit anecdotal to me. Though, there's always those random thoughts I get every so often about things I never knew bothered me (even if only a little!)

When people are hurt so much, they lose trust in others kindness. This guy made a big mistake. Not everyone is kind, but no one has any right to avoid people forever because of that. You have to be wise enough to discern whose kindness is a tool for manipulation and whose isn’t. A man in a windowless van inviting you into his car and a lardball werewolf offering you a cupcake are not the same.
I do like the comparison you did there! But yeah, scenarios like this leave a rather poignant state of mind every so often.
I'm just amazed/confused as to how my mind just went: Make a semi-feral Sarge... but wait, he needs a cupcake! But WAIT he needs to be sad... but WAIT he needs a sad story... but WAIT this is becoming too real. Oops.
I certainly enjoyed doing this, though. <3
