I've met a couple Tibetan monks The only "form" they care about is their combat, and many of em fight naked...I mean what's a swimsuit but, modesty covering the nude bits and maximum mobility?

Oohhhhhhh, I bet that was a pretty neat experience to meet them! It would be really nice to hear the perspectives of such things from people who actively live the lifestyle...
And I like your point! Brunnah would actually like how practical it is(he actually loves oversized swimsuits for this reason), but i think here, he's just progressively more embarrassed/regretful that he let himself get suckered into Artix’s scheme.
And no, it sounds cool! Its like a simple everyday motto to train to. Brunnah actually has a few different ‘motivationals’ that he likes to remember.
