The Chief Stoker - music for our future trailer
I have so many many thank you's to offer for the creation of this piece.
First and foremost is
seadragon who has been writing this story with me since September of 2017. It's been a wonderful ride, and we're almost there; the single novel actually developing into a full trilogy.
Next is my friend
anhedral and his wonderful wife, who took my idea and simple words of a solo sea shanty, creating the music (seen in the image of the icon) and singing of the stoker doing his job at the very beginning of the piece.
Finally, is another more recent friend
XxTheCreativeKitsunexX who is an absolutely wonderful composer. It was he, who took the simple pieces I presented and created the whole.
In my entire writing career, it is friends such as these who have made this entire endeavor worth while... and there are so very very many.
Writers and artist need each other. No one else truly understands us.
And so... I am now honored and privileged to present to you, the music that will be the the backbone of this books future.
Enjoy!

Wow, cool! I had no idea it has progressed to this point.
That is a pretty intense theme. But I guess if you're going to make a trailer, the music has to take hold of you with a firm grip and carry you along for the ride.
Haha man, those deep, ominous strings...sounds great. :)

I'm not in any way a trained singer - flute is my thing - but Louise most certainly is. She created a tune with limited interval leaps to give me the best chance of hitting the notes vaguely in tune, and then we tried it in different keys until we found one that matched my limited vocal range. I always thought I was a bass, but apparently I'm more a baritone!
We were honoured to be a part of this project. In my mind, it's collaborative work like this that shows the fandom at its truest and its best :)

Beautifully composed and perfectly captures the atmosphere of the story and setting, especially with that sea shanty at the beginning.
The build up after the opening sounds properly tumultuous, makes me imagine the Erlandia caught in a storm, the stoker shoveling faster and faster as the crew works to keep her afloat best they can.
I am going to have to seriously commit to reading the stories in their proper order at some point, I don't feel like I can properly appreciate them or this theme otherwise.

I close my eyes and I can picture being in the boiler room with the stokers before moving through the ship and up on deck to a cold night with waves crashing against the sides of the ship as a powerful gale threatens to throw my hood off my head.
Most incredible for sure.
