Baleidwa (Bal) was the last offspring of the past Raja Ganesh by the lioness Aiyano, so he had a golden spoon in his mouth from birth, the old raja had turned all his attention to his son, as far as he was concerned, as he was like himself. Was his favourite.
His father encouraged his violent antics, dragged him to fights, and the kid absorbed that well all that bloodshed in the arena was the norm, it was the way to go.
Bal wanted to be like his father, wanted to be like him. He had no other role model. So he grew into a quiet, calculating monster.
When the first uprising wave started he was already a teenager and decided to stay in the capital, but he strongly hated that his mother after his father's death - switched to his elder brother Firun, and then sent away with two daughters from his country. Their next encounter is unlikely to be pleasant.
Baleidwa believes he alone is entitled to the paternal throne, has no sympathy for his relatives, believing they are ready to send assassins to him at any moment.
So he has all this unrest in the capital and across the country on his hands. He occasionally whispers something sensible to his niece Lhatse, who has taken over the army from her father (who was mourning his murdered wife and went into hiding). He does not play the kind mentor role and is prepared to turn the tables at any moment, which Lhatse understands perfectly well. They both use each other, holding "knives" behind their backs.
