In ancient British and European cultures, way before any of the modern religions, before Rome or any country that exists today, in times when even Kings knealt before the Druids, Gold and Silver were considered to have innate magical properties. Gold was considered to be a part of the sun, daylight made physical, while silver was a part of the moon, night time made solid.
