New Year in Spain was pretty fun! At midnight, there were calls of “Happy New Year!” in several different languages, and heading down to the beach with a glass of col sangria, there were several fireworks displays along the promenade. Then, at 1am, all the drunken Britons called out “Happy New Year!” having forgotten to change their clocks to the right time zone. :P The next day, I left for Malaga airport, which was by far the busiest airport I’d seen on this whole trip. Clearly, Spain was where the rest of Europe had come to escape their own crap weather and national lockdowns. My flight was on a fairly new Vueling A320, on a direct and highly convenient route from Malaga to Cardiff. The plane was about half full, which meant that I got a row to myself, and after taking off and breaking through the thin layer of low-lying cloud offered my a spectacular view over the western Med, and the peaks of inland Andalucia.
