Come ride with me
When the sun has dipped below the mountains,
And the clouds tumble in wisps below a cool crescent moon,
Where all is calm and the breeze is cool,
While a fire blazes across the sky
Above the cacti of Arizona
It may come as a surprise to some how much fun this picture was. It's an illustration of an atmosphere I really dig - the evening twilight, where the air just that right side of cool, and the warm day remains in the smell of the land, and the coming night is something of an excitement - while the promise of an adventure stands before you.
This was a commission for the very lovely Anthracite, who is... just a delight. They've given me many good times and taught me a lot, not least of which being 'What American license plates look like' and 'How to draw this one specific motorbike'. Also, that those images of glorious Arizonan sunsets are not, like I assumed, photoshopped - they really do look that stunning.
Hey, maybe one day I'll find out for myself, riding across the vast, dark desert beneath a glowing sky...

I've rarely felt so happy and glad to hear you experienced the most pure enjoyment and real fun while drawing this glorious picture. Here you've drawn, painted and depicted some of the most awesome things that everyone would live irl at least once. Arizona sunsets are surely a wonder of mother nature, and everybody's dream is to ride a motorbike like this and live an adventure under such a brilliant masterpiece, then coming home to tell how was it. Yes, i'm sure one day you will find out for yourself all this, it is my biggest hope for you Dark. Mother nature owe to you a delicious ride under a sunset like this!

Yeah, I have to deal with that sometimes too. That aside, I’m enjoying how beautiful this sunset and rider are here. With the purple and black on Anthracite’s jacket (purple and black are two of my favorite colors), and the smoky ethereal sunset approaching…it’s wonderful!
