Cookies:
3/4 tsp of baking powder
3/4 tsp of kosher salt
3 cups of cake flour
2-1/2 sticks of chilled butter, cut into pieces
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
Frosting:
1/4 cup of black sesame seeds plus more if needed
1/4 cup of white sesame seeds plus more if needed
1/4 tsp of vegetable oil
4 cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp of lemon juice
1/4 tsp of kosher salt

Whisk together baking powder, salt, and flower in a bowl an set aside. In a mixing bowl add the diced butter and sugar and beat on high speed for about 3 minutes until well combined. Add in the eggs one at a time until well combined. Scrape down the sides as needed. Reduce speed to low and add in the flour mixture in small batches until well combined. Scrape down the sides as needed. Divide the dough in half and form each half into a log around 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the freezer for at least two hours or until needed.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the log into half inch disks and line them up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes rotating shelves half way through. Remove from oven and place on cooling rack.
In a bowl whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, water, salt and vegetable oil. on a plate mix the sesame seeds together. When the cookies are cool use a icing spatula and coat the top of the cookie with icing then dip it into the sesame seed making sure to cover all the icing. Repeat for all the cookies. Let rest for 10-15 minutes and enjoy.

From Chris: You can also toast the sesame seeds just a touch if you are looking get more of a push in the flavor. Just make sure that you keep an eye on them -while- toasting, they can burn quickly!
