Brother Stallion was composed in 2006/07 so i've taken my original music and revamped it. Not just copied with better instruments, but attempted to improve on it's base. I think i've done quite well.
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated on this composition.

Definitely an emotional piece, but subtle, great for ambience. I could totally see playing something like Mass Effect or Civilization to this tune. Subtle military and triumph vibes, it's 'proud', if nothing else. I could very well see a fictional anthem being composed to this.
I do have to ask whether you've pulled on some Oriental influences in the overall style of composition.
You could very definitely transition this into and out of other songs in order to create a musical narrative. Not very good pace to set words to, though, but that's not always neccessary.
There's Juuuuuust enough variation in the tertiary instruments to keep it from being repetitive, which is very nice. Strong theme, strong base tune, without over-repetitiveness, basicly. Well done.

Thank you, Apparently through my years of experimentation and self learning, most people have said that the large percentage of my compositions seem to be "Epic" based. So i've tried to stick with that style. I've dabbled in a lot of different musical styles and it seems im progressively getting better at incidental and atmospheric music for film/tv etc.
You are partially right with the slight oriental theme. I tried to incorporate both American indian and s.Chinese styles. I think what's come out of the creation is something possibly resembling the work of Hans Zimmer (Composer for "Spirit stallion of the cimmaron") *chuckles a little* I'm of course no where near as good as Hans, but thats what learning is for after all.
Part of my flaw when it comes to composing is exactly what i've managed to avoid to a decent extent. And yes, that was repetition. I worked for 4 days just to try and make the composition as a whole flow better. I'll admit i could have worked on it for longer, but....... Keyboard wrist cramps and all :P
Thank you for the comment TrueBlueJay

I've had a few days now to come back to this one over and over, and to play it whilst ME-2 was going. Haven't tried it with Civ yet. :D
Seriously, use this piece to set your standard. Use this as the yardstick by which to judge your own work. If you insist on all of your works reaching this quality, you will put out sequences of absolutely wonderful pieces.

this is beautiful, all the meanwhile I was listening to it I was picturing the story of two brothers separated by life and death. I could hear lyrics to it as well in my head of course. Here are the lyrics I was hearing in my head. It takes a powerful piece to string across lyrics in my head. you'll have to tell me more about this song. Also if whether or not you'd like me to put those lyrics into this piece. Regardless I love it.
Brother Stallion
Where have you gone too
I cannot find you
Any where now
Brother Stallion
I can see you through these clouds
and it makes me proud
to see you moving on
When there's nothing that's left to do
I will be right here watching you
I will never stop being true
Just so long that you
Remember me
There is nothing left here
except from my eye a single tear
Brother Stallion
I must press on
from break of early dawn
until the day that all is gone
Brother Stallion
I can see you through these clouds
and it makes me proud
to see you moving on
All I can see are these bones... of our past
All that I see are these clones... of you and me
How much longer can I last?
Where might I be?
Brother Stallion
Where have you gone too
I cannot find you
Any where now
Brother Stallion
You were my friend
And now to you I send
All of my prayers
And my love.
Brother Stallion
Where have you gone too
I cannot find you
Any where now
Brother Stallion
I can see you through these clouds
and it makes me proud
to see you moving on
When there's nothing that's left to do

Actually, you are quite close to the background story behind the song. I can't tell you a precise full story but I can tell you the basis in the feelings and what i saw.
The story begins with two brother fighting between each other, nothing of their days were happy.
The two brothers could not stand to see each other any more and left, leaving their parents and sister behind.
Two years later a war broke out in their home country, The two brothers we stuck behind borders and crossings blocked by soldiers from both sides.
Both managed to break through and found themselves face to face in a near by town. Struck with their anger and resentment for each other they argued and fought only to stop as two guards walked by talking about prisoners from a village and how one man put up a fight. He was wounded.
The brothers looked at each other i deep down knew it was their father. They worked together and fought with soldiers from each side finally reaching the POW camp.
They were captured and thrown into the holding barracks.
The brothers laughed and hugged each other not caring whether they were prisoners or not. They had found their family,
and that above all petty differences mattered the most.
Your lyrics are good however, maybe just a little tweaking to merge the story.
