This movie is very influential since 1981 even to those movies i mentioned and one of the earliest pioneers to adult animation with Fritz the Cat, Wizards, Watership Down, Fantastic Planet, Starchaser, Rock and Rule, Fire and Ice, American Pop, Heavy Traffic, Hey Good Looking, Spawn TAS, The Maxx, B.C. Rock, The Head, Beavis and Butthead with the movie, Daria, Lightyears aka Gandahar, Felidae, Plague Dogs, Aeon Flux, Liquid TV, Amazing Stories's Family Dog episode, The Simpsons (in it's prime from Tracy Ullman to Behind the Laughter), Duckman, The Critic, Futurama, Batman Mask of the Phantasm, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Golgo 13 Professional, Wicked City, Fist of the North Star, Cowboy Bebop, Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke and more.

Without all those works of adult animation, todays adult animations like Bojack Horseman, Love Death and Robots, Disenchanted, Castlevania, Primal and more would never exist

Love Death and Robots is said to be the actual Heavy Metal 2, not the bomb they left us 22 years ago.
