Project Prometheus was a major project developed by Puckett industry with the backing of hundreds of other companies. The goal was to create cloned soldiers and guards that were stronger than regular humans, with better training and equipment. The project started off promising, the soldiers they were making were stronger and better than regular humans, so much so that several companies stopped backing other projects that were also creating cloned soldiers. That's when the trouble started.
Several months after the first wave of Prometheus B1's were deployed, a large number of B1's that had been deployed to protect several facilities were killed, by a single unknown soldier. It is unknown where the soldier came from, only that they were able to take out entire battalions of them with ease. Puckett industry investigated the matter, trying to restore customer confidence in their Prometheus B1's, but their findings proved more damaging than expected. The single soldier who had been killing so many of their B1's, was a regular, unaugmented human. Turns out, to help meet demands, B1's were being rushed into service after six months, they were supposed to be sent into service after two years. As a result, they did not meet specifications and were not as effective as they were said to be.
Sales of B1's tanked, causing Puckett industry to go bankrupt, and sell off most of its assets, including the entire Prometheus project. Prometheus was later brought by Tana Tech and renamed project Ares. They still sold the basic B1's with better training, with plans to produce the still in testing B2 model, but the damage had already been done and sales were poor. Only time can only tell if Tana Tech can revive the project.
