This picture was taken back in 2020 around Christmas Peak season. During peak season we needed so many delivery vehicles that we rented U-Hauls.
Yes I was a Prime Delivery Driver for about 2 years and this was where I started back in August of 2020. At that time the warehouse was just starting out. Very new and only a few third party companies there. A lot of you may not know. Even though I'm wearing Amazon's uniform and driving with their vans and trucks... I am NOT employed under Amazon. They offer out $10,000 for each company to start out a company. If you want to start your own delivery company for Amazon, well there you have it. You hired your own workers even your friends and family. Yes you can do that. Also the down side is, you get paid quite decent but no benefits. The only benefits you can get is Sick Time and Paid Off Time that was it. Truth be told this was way better then my car service days. When I was out sick, I got no sick pay or paid time off. No such thing in car service business world. So even though it sounds bad but it's a lot better then what I was doing. The big problem was with Amazon was if any company has bad ratings of not doing your job right and never improve, they have the right to throw the company out of the warehouse forcing you and everyone losing jobs. That's how they make money too by not giving out full benefits to full time drivers. No Unions no nothing. I'm going to leave it at that because I can go on forever ranting about how bad the working conditions are for many of the drivers.
When I first started out was a van driver. We drive those Ram Sprinter vans. Those box trucks wasn't a thing yet for the warehouse when I first started working for them. When the Box trucks starts to become a thing, I imminently signed up for training and promotion. You get paid more by driving these trucks. However the only down side is, it's pretty tough work with them. You can have all the space in back to work which is nice. But a lot of times I was having a rough time with these trucks on the narrow roads. The ones I'm talking about is the long dead end streets in the suburbs. The ones there isn't a way for any of these trucks to U turn at all. Also too dangerous to back in sometimes. I have to park at the main road and grab everything for that one street and walk. Don't say suburbs are easy to deliver. It was very rough. Yes mostly houses are easy, but the problem is... there's too much packages to deliver. You don't realized how many of us including the UPS and FedEx has to deliver. We mostly deliver up to 300 to 400 packages a day with 200 to 220 stops. Sometimes we get over 400 to 500 at times depending on the route. I finish my route mostly around 5 or 6 in the evening. That's only if I knew my route and the addresses very well. If it's a different route, it would take a little while. The longest I've ever finished my route was either 9pm or 11pm. At one point we are struggling with our routes and many drivers calling out work for some reason. They weren't even sick to begin with. I work the weekends, a lot of times they just call out. It's very stupid but that's what I have to deal with at that time. Rescuing others from left to right. I took a split route because it costed my boss to much money to drop because too much routes have no drivers. Those packages adds up. That's how I deliver my over 400 packages a day and doing it for 4 days straight.
The good part about working with this team is my boss. The most important person. If you have a good boss that's great to have. I never gave him no troubles and he never give me any issues. However, never give him/her a rough time. Like not showing up to work, always late, no shows, losing devices, losing the company's gas card, thief (Yes that happens!), slacking off work by not delivering any packages, refused to help other drivers yet you have 50 stops. I swear, so many people are so lazy it drives me insane. You want a job? You got it! For 2 years I've been working with them, I've met so many people that they don't even want to work. I must say this, I have met a few drivers that can't even deliver 100 packages! If I had 100 packages, I would've got that done in 2 hours! They can't even handle that kind of amount then sorry to say the boss will ask you to leave.
Besides the negatives, I will missed this job. Even though this job was a killer. But it kept me in healthy shape. Also I had a great boss who watches out for his workers, and lots of other drivers there they always look up to me. They always ask for my advice on things like what to do on the word and what's the best method. Many things. My other jobs in the past, everyone always looks down on me as I'm not a human being. Well that's life at the working place. Be aware, also avoid trouble makers. They have those guys at work are bullies wanted to start trouble at other employees. Like why even? This is the same advice I'll say to everyone including myself because when I go into the Mass Transit there will be a lot of them. I don't even. To sum it all up, yes I will missed this job. When I say my goodbyes to my colleagues on my last day, they already missed me. Wish them all the best and continue to move forward.
I do have a bunch of video clips I recorded for the last two years. Not long though it's just some stuff. I'm going to upload it along with some imagines. That will come along soon!

He was a retired NYPD detective so he knew how to look after people. Same with his father, he's always there in the morning to help set up everything for us like phones and keys to our vehicles. He did serve the NYPD in 1966 to 1986. He's very good with the streets and everyone knew him. These are lovely bunch of people I work for and I'll missed them.
I'm getting close to working a year and a half as a amazon driver currently and I can relate to most of the things that you listed here. And fortunately my boss as well is a nice person as well. And thanks to this job if I ever drove around the areas they have me around delivering packages, I won't have to worry about getting lost. Also for the DSP I work with, we drive the Mercedes vans
