Held in her coiling bed, Sylvia slept, happily lost in a hazy, blissful fog. Everything was quiet, calm, and comforting.
And just outside her consciousness, the snake that hypnotized her was hard pressed to consider her a meal. She wasn’t as plump as the many of the other prey he had seen around this place, but she was vulnerable, all alone here and under his control. Sneaking her away to be swallowed would be easy…
But there was something about her that he couldn’t get out of his head. The way her soft skin felt wrapped up in his tail. The cute little expression on her face when she slipped into his spell. The adorable way the dog girl snored and snoozed in his embrace.
Consuming her now would be a waste. It would be much more satisfying to play with her a little more.
Smiling down at her, Kaa gently laid her down on the carpeted floor of the library and allowed her to sleep the night away.
A few hours later, Sylvia woke up, confused, but still unusually well rested.
