Entry: DnD (Dungeons and Dinos)
“Mhm, I got to say, thanks for introducing this game to me guys.” Amaire said. He took a seat at the right side of the table. “The last time I played with you was so fascinating.”
“You flatter us. It was nothing.” Someone stated, it appeared to be a jack rabbit. Devin was her name. “We are just lucky that the library allows us to play this game. Only wish we had more people who want to play with us more often.”The rabbit took out a playing map, laid it across the table and began to draw the layout of the map.” We got to thank Scrap whenever we have a chance. He seems to be interested in playing, sadly he is always busy. With his jobs around town and his new one. Man, I haven't seen him around lately.”
“Oh I’m sure he knows.” Amaire let out a small chuckle. “He even told me about your game night. So I thought we have it here.”
“And he gave you the keys to the library?” Another person said. He appeared to be a rooster. O’Brien was his name, but the gang calls him Obie. “The new boss of this place is so strict with the rules. You wouldn’t believe the last time me and Devin had to do to request a room for our Dnd session. Man, I miss the old owner… What was her name?”
“Who knows and who cares,” the last person shouted as he set up his station. He appeared to be a bear with dark pink fur. Hal was his name. He was the one incharge of the group and usually set up the sessions. But he always struggled to recruit new members or even schedule events. When he met Amaire and found out the dino was so thrilled to play this game he couldn’t be more happy. And he couldn’t believe he managed to get a room at the library, especially after hours. “I just want to play. I’ve been waiting for this all week.”
“Trouble in paradise.” Devin laughed and ruffed his head.
“Shut up alright. I just want to play.” he grumbled.
“Oh hey… before you guys start. Do you mind if I take the lead today? I have something I want to try.” The gang suddenly stopped and gazed at each other.
“Um… okay,” Hal said. “What’s up?”
Amaire reached for his bag and pulled out the journal. The book was ticking and emitting its glow, but rather it wasn’t a blue glow. It was a orange glow,
“Neat… book,” Odie. “Is that a manual or something?”
Amaire chuckled. “Well you can say that. I thought I would be the DM for this game. I know Hal is usually DM, but I really wanted to give it a go. Don’t worry I have a good game and I know you guys will have a blast playing this game.” He said but, rather, had a suspicious grin on his face.
“What's the game?” Hal said.
“Oh the usual, A hero was given a task to stop demon lord, while it seems the world is against him.”
Hal huffed, “Sounds boring.” He said and reached for his stuff. “Amaire, no offense, but I don't think you're the creative type. Remember our first game.” Yeah, it wasn’t the best when he started. It was, “My character attacks this… that; my character breaks down the door, slays the besst, etc.” no originality!”
Amaire smirked and wrote something down: Display my map, use the table infront of me as the length of my world. The words seemed into the book and suddenly a hologram appeared. Everyone jumped back as they watched the sight. He writes again: Use Havor as an example. Turn it into a fantasy land. Quickly the shape and takes it form. Paper peels away and reveals Havor, but rather looks like something out of a fantasy novel. The mountains turned into floating islands with waterfalls sprouting out. The forest morphed into a vast dark forest. The town of Havor had broken apart. Section of the town became kingdoms and towns.
“Dude!” Devin said with so much excitement. “How are you doing this?
“Must be some VR or something, but I can’t believe what I’m seeing.” Odie stated and looked over the map. He looks at the middle kingdom. He examined the castle, but noticed something strange about it. “Hey… that kind of looks like the library…”
“Nah… pure coincidence. Haha”
“Hmm… okay I give ya that.” Hal said and nodded his head. “Okay well play your game. So let's get our characters.”
Actually… the dinosaur cut him off. “I already made characters for this game in particular. I made one for each of you.” Amaire reached into his bag and pulled out 4 figurines. He handed Devin what looked to be a tigress, Hal what looked to be a gator man, and Odie small canine.”
He handed them their sheets. “Rial Lae, feared Tigress of the Amazonian Tribe” Devin read. “Bar Ness, Barbian Gator man.” Hal read. “Parcs, Lone Rogue Wolfren?”
“Names are not the best. I’ll give ya that. But I got all the stats right. I believe you all like them.” Devin and Hal looked over their stat pages, but Odie kept examining the figurine. He looked deep in thought.
Amaire asked, “Something the matter, bud?”
He shrugged and said, “I don’t know. But something is weird with this guy. It looks strikingly familiar.” he lets out a lil chuckle. “It kind of looks like Scrap. I mean it even has his chipped ear on his right side. Even the clothes match his get up. I mean they look so faded here.
“Oh dear. Here, pass it over. I’ll fix it up. Won’t take me too long. Go ahead and read over the stats, bro.” He extended his arm and Odie passed it back to him. Amaire reached into his bag and pulled out a small brush. He licked the tip of the brush and dipped it into the paint. And starts to paint the figurines shirt.
“They’re we are. We are going to have a fun game tonight.” Amaire painted over his striped shirt and changed it to what looks like an open shirt. He kept chatting to himself as he painted the figurine. “Don’t worry pal. Nothing bad will happen to your dnd buddies, but i can’t say what will happen to you.” He smirked again with that suspicious grin.
Outside the library, the players haven’t realized things were afflicting. The entry was taking a foot. Everything that was described in Amaire’s map started to take form. Parts of Havor began to rip. Townsfolk found themselves trapped in their section. They tried to flee, but found they couldn’t leave their sections. The small town of Havor was changing. It was no longer a town, but a small kingdom. The entry was active, and it was only getting started.
End of part one!
