hmmmm... i have a theory
before you read this, for people reading this past 09/01/2022 if I've ballparked the guess and it's roughly right stop here and read the rest of the comic first. (I will edit this if it turns out i was right.)
I think she was a pawn in some deal. we're talking tribes so it's either land, peace treaty, alliance or she's an easy bargaining chip.
she was caught "trespassing" in there hunting ground, if she knew the risk why do that unless ordered too. she also thinks she has value so priestess or one of the chief's or high ranking officials daughters.
the chieftess of the tribe, (I think that's a woman it's hard to tell with the robes.) seemed puzzled in thought.
so my 2 guesses are 1) she was to be 'abducted' for an arranged marriage because there's no way she or her parents would agree to it. (if there alive, thinking of Dominic Deegan and orc customs there...) and the leader of the tribe that captured her is not to sure there getting the better half of this deal.
2) she's the daughter of the chief but not the next in line and an easy exchange for something else. perhaps an arranged 'marriage' under the guise of capture after the fact of trespassing so she has less right within the clan. she'd be less of a wife and more of a slave for the next in line.
to simplify chain of events between clans
1) arrangement > trespass > capture > unsure on marriage > deal broken
2) trespass > consideration > negotiation > brokered deal of marriage > deal broken
the reason I think marriage to someone was on the table is that the two were chased out of the village because the guard was going to go and tell someone what they had done and she killed him for it.
in both of these instances she would be unfit for the bargaining chip she is or was becoming because in tribe culture being a virgin is connected to child birth, more specifically who's child is in there. and because tribe's aren't that medically advanced some believe that the offspring will always be man who laid with her first
to quote 'Ace Ventura when nature calls'.
"I think he's saying... 'she's not a virgin'"
"they can tell that?"
so my guess is she was going to be someone's wife/slave but because the male lead turned her into a 'pastry' she 'might have pups in there' and is now unfit for marriage. and since it was his tribe who F* up her tribe takes no responsibility for a child of his tribe...
