A new year has started and I'm right here with a new artwork for the occasion. I had this silly idea a while ago and I thought since I'm working hardly on improving my shading skills, making this scene would be perfect to improve a little bit. The main idea was that with the direct light of the moon in the middle of the countryside, it was going to be pretty clear the light source and the shading would have good results and was going to be manageable. Also, I can say that Twilight is a pony that I really like to draw. I have no idea why, but drawing her is pretty satisfying.
Hehe knowing how Twilight is I can imagine how relaxing should be for her to look at the stars in a calm night in the middle of the countryside. With the added bonus that she won't have to worry about answering nature's calls. Oh yeah, somepony is going to have a good night here :3
For this drawing I tried to apply all the lights and shadows techniques that I know until now, put all of them together, manage correctly the transparencies, the gradients and also adding some blur effects to make those effects softer. I feel pretty proud of what I was able to obtain. I can feel that there are still missing effects to enrich the whole drawing, but I feel that I'm moving in the right direction. Also, I want to mention that this posture and facial expression wasn't exactly trivial, so it was another challenge. For me this new artwork represents the big challenges that I will be facing and conquering during this new year. I hope you like it as much as I do!

What a wonderful picture to paint to help start off 2022. I also like, if I am reading correctly, how you put some of your personal feelings into Twilight's expression. Our art is our best way to share what we may not otherwise be able to.
***
Do you think you enjoy drawing Twilight due to her color scheme? Her deep purple mane and soft purple body are, in my opinion, very relaxing colors.
Another aspect of twilight is that, as I have gotten to know you for nearly 3 years, is how you, like her, are very devoted to those goals you seek to achieve? The amount of effort you put into each piece of art you share is definitely how Twilight strives to continually improve herself while remaining very aware of mistakes that others may not see. You, like Twilight, are very good at 'Quality Control' and, I believe, this trait ensures optimal output while learning what you feel can be worked on, are okay as they are, and/or may not be something worth devoting your time into with future posts.

I could see this image as part of an animation. Twilight gives Spike permission to visit 'The Crystal Empire' to be "Brave & Glorious" while she prepares for a very special evening.
For Twi, who often finds herself stressing over everything since she became Princess Celestia's personal prodigy, relaxation is very difficult to come by.
One particular night, Twilight was visited by Princess Luna who came upon the young princess dreaming about when she was still a foal with her B.B.B.F.F. Luna took particular notice of the look of wonder that foal Twilight had in her eyes while Shining Armor helped her to see the wonders of the night sky through a simple telescope. Young Twily was in awe as she wiggled about with excitement upon seeing just how beautiful the night sky was. She did not worry about finding any particular constellations, meteor showers, or anything else 'magic' and/or 'science' related. She simply babbled to her brother about how amazing and beautiful the night was and how she knew 'The Mare in the Moon' was keeping a close watch over her while providing the best nightlight to keep away any monster from scaring her during her bedtimes.
In private, Princess Luna approached Twilight about what she had observed during the young princess' dream. Twilight could barely remember those times as they had happened a long time ago. Luna, knowing that this dream brought a lot of stress-free joy to Twilight, recommended she go out to gaze at the stars and let her imagination take her beyond the borders of her immense understanding of just about everything.
Twilight thought about it. She even came close to doing it once, or twice. However, no matter what, her mind always went into a panic for doing something that had no value towards making her live up to those expectations, largely self-imposed by herself, to prove her worth as 'The Princess of Friendship'.
One night, Princess Luna decided to take matters into her own hooves. Twilight needed to rest her mind and remember what it was like to live without worry and allow her imagination to return to being as active as it was while she was a foal.
From 'The Dream Realm', Princess Luna cast a spell that put Twilight into a state of semi-consciousness. The purple Alicorn felt like she was dreaming when she was actually moving about her castle. She wondered why she had been wearing a diaper, but did not care as it was a dream and she would simply look into what research had been done towards what wearing a diaper during a dream meant.
As one would suspect, Princess Luna diapered Twilight in hopes the feel of the foalish garment around her flanks would help aid the overly stressed mare to free her mind of all the lists and responsibilities she had at the top of her mind.
Slowly, yet steadily, Twilight found herself at one of the best places to observe the stars in Ponyville. There was a telescope that resembled the one from her dream. She also heard her brother encouraging her to look through the telescope and tell him what she sees.
Twilight, gradually waking from the dream-like state she was in, looked through the telescope and smiled as she saw only stars of various brightness shimmering in the sky. The moon looked like she could just reach out her hoof and touch it. This brought her to laugh while her hind legswiggled about with excitement.
Princess Luna quietly approached Twilight who, by this time, had the biggest smile on her face as she rocked herself. The diaper sending out tiny plumes of lavender-scented powder with each playful movement of her body as she, despite having now become fully awake, still felt she was in a dream.
Not wanting to ruin the moment, Princess Luna decided it best to wait a few more moments before teleporting the young princess back into her bed and removing the diaper she had placed upon her. However, she did take time to leave a note explaining 'the dream' and how she wanted to help Twilight achieve such a state of relaxation again.
Twilight was confused, but had to admit she felt very well rested. Her mind was clear and not cluttered with all the stress she was so used to waking up to in the morning. This made her smile as Spike came to call her to the kitchen for breakfast.
Now, after having further discussions with Princess Luna, Twilight made sure to schedule in at least one night each month to repeat the relaxing evening the Moon Princess had done for her. All it took was a simple concealing spell, a fresh diaper full to capacity with lavender-scented foal powder, annd that simple telescope to slow down her mind, push her stress aside, and allow herself to remember the world and stars beyond it from the perspective of that young foal who saw everything as being magical and whom had not a care in the world.

We can never go back to when our minds did not have the knowledge of difficult times prior to becoming adults. This is why it is important to make time for your 'Inner Foal' to come out and remind us that being grown-up is not easy, but it can still be fun as long as we never forget that part of us that found wonder in the everything and knew that there was always a reason to wake up and be your best each and every day.

Yes, you're 100% right Yosh. We all need time to ourselves to feel more relaxed and that usually means behaving or contacting with our younger ones. The backstory you made for this drawing is really good. A lot of ABDL authors theorize that due to the high amount of stress that princesses should be exposed to, it is probable that they handle it having periodically, a private time to feel again like foals. Your story is, nevertheless, more developed and interesting hehe. I'm sure that, knowing the comfort zone of Twilight Sparkle, it is plausible that she finds a really relaxing place in the astronomy.
By the way, there are multiple reasons because I enjoy drawing Twilight. First of all, she is a pony that I like, so drawing her is really enjoyable for me, especially when you can see how she turns into a better creature with each step of the drawing. Second, she is kinda easy to draw, she doesn't have a lot of complicated details like Rainbow or Rarity for example. Third, yeah, I feel identified with Twilight. The "nerd" pony, reading all kinds of books, knowing all the answers to the tests before the teacher even started with the classes, with a low quantity of friends and enjoying a lot of time alone is exactly the description of myself. For example, I used to make color schedules for my colleges classes. Even if I find that my deeper personality is more reflected in Sweetie Belle, probably the core of who I am is more reflected in Twilight, especially the Twilight that we can see in the very beginning of the show, just a student of Canterlot. I have to admit that this comparison usually makes me feel nice because Twilight is a cool pony and also loved by tons, but... At the same time... I usually think in how she at the end had success being a princess and headmare... and meanwhile I'm unemployed...
Anyways... Thanks for comenting in another submission, Yosh :)

It is always my pleasure to allow my imagination to share 1,000, or more, words that your artwork and descriptions provide as imagination fuel for developing stories that, quite honestly, write themselves. :)

I like how you find that you relate with Sweetie Belle and Twilight Sparkle. I would saythat Sweetie Belle represents how you are guided by your emotions / heart while the Twilight is your brain and all that it knows you can achieve if given the chance to do so.
Often, you find stories, television shows, movies, books, etc. that focus on the ongoing struggle of which part of yourself has the greater amount of control. It is the brain and how i
For example, the brain is best known as what provides you 'rational' / 'objective' thinking. The brain does not rely on emotion to drive its choices, but uses a 'Black & White' view to determine 'success' and 'failure'.
This is contrasted by the heart. The heart is prone to being 'subjective' in how it is seeking to love and be loved. It does not value the 'success / failure' method the brain uses. This means you may make sacrifices that make you feel good about yourself, but then are reminded by the brain that you had to give up working towards a goal, or two, as a result of the heart being as compassionate as it is.
The opposite is true when the brain manages to win against the heart's pleading to do one thing, or another. The brain is happy with success and being 'efficient', but the heart provides remorse over how it believed there was another way to reach the goal that did not result in someone getting the proverbial, 'short end of the stick'.

Sweetie Belle is 'Heart' and Twilight is 'Brain'. They balance you out very well by allowing you to take the time during your job searching to create and share your passion in the arts towards relaxing yourself and making others, like me, happy to get lost in the scenarios you develop that make the picture more than just pixels on a screen.
However, most definitely noticed, is your Twilight Sparkle side that will not accept sharing anything you feel to not meet a set standard you pride yourself on maintaining while you continue to make it better-and-better with ongoing practice and posts.
Your Twilight side may also be making more of the stress in how, like in 'Lesson: Zero', you really want that positive outcome for a job that is in, or a part of, your learned expertise. You can hear the "Clock is ticking... Clock is ticking,". Thankfully, Sweetie Belle is there to remind you that you have made great progress in the final months of Fall and into early Winter. You will just need to treat yourself to more of Sweetie Belle's sweets until you can go forward and really show the employers out there what you can do!

You're probably right with all of these Yosh. Except that, well, scientifically, the heart is just a muscle that pumps blood, while everything related to our behavior and thinking occurs in the brain. We could say more accurately then that Sweetie Belle represents the emotional functions or sections of my brain while Twilight Sparkle represents the rational ones. Fortunately, as you say, when both brain functions work together you can have a pretty well-balanced life. We can see how, for example in Lesson Zero, the lack of emotional thinking in Twilight was the main reason to drive her crazy, while in Sisterhooves Social, the lack of rational thinking in Sweetie Belle was the main reason because her sister get mad with her.
I consider that in my case I constantly mix both ways of thinking as well as I can. For example, my art process is really methodical. I follow an established set of rules to my workflow and I never get out of them no matter what. I don't let my art to be extremely emotional since that won't result too good in certain situations. In the other hoof, sometimes when I'm reading certain science topics like physics or math, I usually make myself certain silly questions like: "which would be the best colors to represent each particle?" or "is the sigma letter the most appropriated one to represent variance?", this way I think that science acquires a more deep meaning for me instead of being that abstract.
Having those ways of mixed thinking where my both "pony souls" work together is really useful to give you new perspectives to explore.

I really like how you described this, Sweetie. I am also quite thankful for the examples you provided to allow me to understand how the different parts of your brain are being used to balance what makes you the lovable 'Padded Princess of the Foals' that we know and love. :)

Being serious and creative can, at first glance, seem impossible. However, you show how it is very possible to hold yourself to a set of continually growing standards. The experience you gain through practicing, studying, and performing different forms of art allows your imagination to think about concepts that may not have been on your mind prior to discovering how keeping consistant with your techniques allows your creative side to develop new and exciting opportunities in the arts.
Regarding your creative approach to those things that are more technical, I actually learned to do something very similar while pursuing my Masters / Graduate degree. The creative part of my brain would find ways to associate words with other words that would help trigger memory to make the best choices during exams / tests while I kind of made a game of doing homework and studying. It truly is far more enjoyable and less stressful when you can find fun in learning / mastering that which is relevant for your future success.

I will end this reply by sharing that your methods are what will make you a fantastic employee to whomever is fortunate enough to hire / onboard you first. You possess a lot of solid methods for the timely planning and completion of projects / assignments of different sizes. Keep up the great work, Sweetie! *Snugs*
