Did some redesigns for my Bug Fables OC’s! Well, some of them, anyway. Sylvie had the most changes - a new scarf, different antennae, and different pattern on her body. Folia got some more hair (cause why not, leaf hair!) and her cloak is more, uh, cloak-like. And Lilith… Well, I was always happy with Lilith’s design! The only thing I changed about her was making her abdomen sort of translucent. Or at least I tried to. Anyway, I think they look cute!

These three aren’t an actual exploration team, but I think that they would come up with this honorary name, due to the circumstances that eventually brought them all together. They all definitely embody the found family trope skjdfg

I'm also working on giving them some more individual background. They're not 100% finished but here's a little peek at what I have so far:


Sylvie grew up with a single mom who resorted to rendezvousing with dozens of shady bugs to make ends meet and care for her child, whom she loved dearly. When Sylvie was able to move out, she did, believing that her mother would be easier off financially without the burden of a child, and she was right. She and her mother are still on kind terms, but the idea that Sylvie was right about essentially being a hindrance, coupled with the dozens of bugs entering and leaving her life over the years, made it very hard for Sylvie to form new relationships and trust new people. She lives on her own in an overturned human-sized book, the pages of which she ate at until it became a house, and has become quite a shut-in.

Folia is the Mom Friend™, but it's mostly due to the fact that she actually did mother two children with her spouse, and they lived a lovely, traditional family life for several years. However, her family was killed one day when an earthquake felled the tree they lived in. Folia somehow survived the fall, but now deals with heavy survivor's guilt. She tries to help others as much as she can as a way to make up for failing to protect her family, and hopefully move on after all these years.

Lilith was raised in a colony that was preparing to migrate, and thus required the most able members to help keep everyone safe while they moved. Lilith, having no eyes and weak wings, was deemed unfit to even perform menial tasks for the colony, and so she became quite the troublemaker, picking fights all the time and stealing things as a means of proving her ability (mostly to herself). She was eventually cast out from the colony for her misbehavior and has become painfully independent as a result, constantly training and refusing help from others.


Other tiny tidbits:

- Sylvie is the most magically inclined, however she does not know how to wield magic or have the ability to (as far as she knows). She just feels an unusually deep connection with certain elements and objects. Sylvie also gets sleepy the easiest, and can take a nap pretty much anywhere. She's often tired even in serious situations.

- Lilith is the big eater, and will work it off almost immediately after through her training. She has the most energy of the three.

- Though she 100% does not look like it, due to her cool and collected demeanor, Folia can drink even some of the most resilient bugs under the table. Actually... Kind of sad in hindsight fkshfjdg
