I could even see this in a story. Runt got hit by somekind of energy ray (probably a malfunction from one of Brains inventions for world domination) and is turned into a female, who thinks Rita is his/her little puppy.
And while Rita tries to find a solution to change her friend back, she has to "endure" a lot of love and attention from her new mommy^^
