TTI #9 a rare Baldwin V-1000 diesel switcher. She has been sitting on this disused siding for over 20 years and just recently someone has been doing work to her and her stable mates.
Alot of brush clearing and moving of trash has given the first semi-clear view of her in many years.

Not sure who she was originally built for. I do know 35+ years ago she was aquired by TransKentucky Transportation Inc. (TTI Railroad)and used to do switching in the 70's. In the 1980's see was given to the Kentucky Central (tourist railroad that ran over TTI) and she pulled excursions along side #11 for a short period until being shoved onto the siding some 20 years ago when her crankshaft broke.
I wonder why it was retained in the first place.
I guess they thought they'd somehow get another operable De La Vergne inline 8 for it. I'd wager when the crank failed it did other damage and there was no attempt to seal up the prime mover against the elements.
