2010 FBA Draft Prospect - Krystal Bunny
sketch 18/100
It's the super adorable Krystal Bunny, aka
tobu! The shortest (and cutest) player in the FBA Draft this year, Tobu has some bigtime game to go with those floppy ears and li'l button tail! Like a draft-leading 10.7 assists per game and a high octane, up-tempo game that is sure to excite fans from all corners of the globe! Maybe she'll even show off her impressive Buck Hopper jersey and John Stoat goggle collection. ;)

Player Report:
Projected: TOP 8
Krystal Bunny (otherwise known as "Tobu") is not just the tiniest (and probably cutest) draft prospect available. She earns her Top 8 status by being the best passing player available in the entire draft. She leads the second highest assister by 2 whole assists per game! And her high-octane playing style is sure to excite coaches and fans alike!
Krystal plays well in a run and gun offensive style. Her court vision is excellent and she can find her teammates on a fast break, in traffic, cutting backdoor or spotting up for an open three. Her passing and playmaking really helps make her teammates better and keeps her team operating quickly and efficiently. She's also quite crafty and is probably one of the fastest players available in the draft. Her speed and size make her extremely hard to keep in front of, and she finds holes in the defense and squeezes through them with ease.
She also can shoot the rock, and that keeps defenses honest. Defenders shouldn't just leave her open and rush to guard her teammates, because if she doesn't have the right pass open, she will can the jumpshot, be it a runner, leaning to the side, fading away, or even from beyond the arc. Krystal boasts a 42% three point shooting average, and she is very close to averaging 50-40-90 (FG-3PT-FT) which would put her in rare, elite company.
Obviously, her size can be a disadvantage as well. She's not the best defender, simply because she has no way to stop opponents that are almost a foot taller and 60+ lbs heavier than her. She can use her quickness to stay in front of opponents and keep them from entering the lane, but she is easily outmuscled. She has quick paws that can swipe a few steals, mainly from opponents who are so much taller than her and look straight over her head. Forget about blocked shots though, as despite being a bunny, she doesn't exactly sky. She might jump out from behind you to block the shot before you go up though, just because she's very sneaky like that.
But none of that is too important, because she brings a possible game changing quality to the court with her ability to lead, dictate the pace of the game, and find teammates, delivering the ball to them wherever they need to be. Out of all the prospects, Krystal has the highest chance of being an elite pass-first point guard, and the team that drafts her should expect to see a good amount of improvement in the standings and on-the-court results. Her teammates will probably notice their stats getting slightly more padded as well, as she knows just how to put them in perfect positions to score or move the ball to someone who can. And she'll fill the seats in the arena too for good measure! (Fast-paced point guard + cute girl bunny = Win!)
Also, ask Buck Hopper or John Stoat who Krystal Bunny is, and they'll probably know who you're talking about (and always keep their gear in their lockers now).

ok first the obvious!
She is freaking Adorable!
Ok now down to some details ^^
When I first saw the sketch of her, I was pretty much in love with the character. I'm a sucker for kewt. We know this. But I can safely say that as far as characters go in a sport that I have just the barest of understanding of. [which actually i know better than baseball, and i'm fairly ok with baseball o,O ]
I think this is a character I could really get interested in.
If i was a faster writer, I'd ask if I could do a little short story with her and Kat. But hell, for all the wonderful ideas I get in my head, I REALLY don't like writing that much. >,<
As for the picture? I really love how you colored her. Actually, what I really am impressed with, was the coloring of her hair. Using near black, so that you can still see the outlines. I've always wondered how that would work.
The shading is wonderful, and i'm totally loving her pose and expression. Yes, She is by far the cutest lil bunny. ^^

yay *smiles* that be good yeah last year went with
jtigerclaw and
buckhopper to a Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks game it was enjoyable when the cabbies were not trying to kill us. But the highlight would have to say was the Mavelanche engery drink commercial. We never did get our hands on one but it wasnt for JT and Buck lack of trying to get it.

Awwww, thanks hun! I'm so glad you like it so much! And I'm glad
tobu likes it too! ^___^

I dunno if Dallas re-signed Barea. I didn't know he was a free agent. I would have to assume they did, or I would have heard about someone trying to sign him by now.
And his Wiki page says "The Mavericks used his team option ($1.8 million) and signed him for the 2010-11 NBA season." So yeah, he's signed. ;)

Nice he is a pest when he is on the floor. But yeah saw him on the big vast free agency list at the end of last season and never heard anything about it. Been keeping up with who the spurs are bringing to training camp. Which is about four guys that are not under contract to test them out for a roster spot and 14 players under contract with 3 of them not guarenteed.
Thanks! I'm glad you like her! ^^
Luckily, it doesn't look like the Thrust are drafting her, so wearing #7 shouldn't be an issue. ;) Only teams she would have to worry about are the Blanks, Thrust, Sand Dollars, Clefs, Minutemen, Moonshiners, Rapids, Spirits, and Whips, as all those teams have a player who wears #7. Though perhaps other than B-Hop and JT, you might be able to pry the number away from the other lesser known vets. ;)
That would be awesome, getting another commission from you! Though if I have to draw her all over again in a different pose, I probably couldn't in good conscience take another commission since I am so damn busy with stuff as it is, and it's already cutting into my "look for jobs" time and vice versa. X,x We'd have to see.

She almost looks shy about having her photo taken! Awwww! So cute!
Love your design of the Lapine State jersey! Heehee-- I just love watching things like this grow. As you probably guessed, Lapine State started off as a joke. When I created the B-Hop character and had to decide what college he came from, I just came up with that as being something silly and obvious for a bunny. When I had to draw that one picture of B-Hop in college, I even made the colors orange and green-- carrot colors! Maybe their mascot is a big giant carrot, ala the Stanford Cardinal.
But because of creative contributions from guys like yourself, you've taken what started off as a joke and made it legitimate. That's a believable college sports jersey. That's now a believable school. I can actually picture a traditionally-lapine university with a strong basketball program that does put out the occasional pro star. (Two of them, this year!!) And that's a real feat.
Amazing job, JT. Love what you've done here.
And adorable character
tobu.
