I wanted to try to practice shading a bit so I tried it out on this old pic. I feel like I made the shadows a bit too strong here and I'm not sure they're all in the right place. Feedback is appreciated!

If you're working in a program that allows for a lot of layers, you can put each color on its own layer.
That makes it easier to shade, because you can select JUST the layers you want to add shading too (or select multiple layers at once).
It's best to keep everything on separate layers so you can always go back and adjust one specific thing, if necessary (until you get up to 30 layers and you can't keep track of them anymore, even with descriptive names).

I orginally wanted to use something like Gimp because free and such, but I saw all the options and stuff and part of my brain broke trying to make sense of it. Then I asked this guy on Deviantart for art advice and he said her just used MS Paint and it worked for him. It just seems easier to me.
No rush.
I honestly don't use 90% of the stuff. I just need the selection tools and the slap gradients on different layers.
Also, you get a bunch of tacky filters that no one would ever use outside of a high school power point presentation (though plastic wrap has it's uses).

Look man, I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to ask you to stop posting comments like this. I'm working on your pic, but that's not the only thing I'm doing with my life right now. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I'm giving you free art. The least you can do is be patient for it. So, please give me some time here.
