These are the colored versions of the character designs for The Cat in Fear I made using Procreate. I’m thinking about making a comic strip on this because I believe it has the potential to be one. I enjoy comedy-horror slapstick cartoons and making this was being inspired by cartoons that have an horror-themed vibe to them (i.e. Courage the Cowardly Dog, Billy and Mandy, Gravity Falls, etc.)

THE CHARACTERS

Eddie: Age 24. The main male protagonist of the story. A yellow-furred cat who is nice, friendly, meek and is always afraid of everything related to every horror scenario. He’s best friends with Clyde, Hunter and Leonard, although Leonard likes to playfully tease him due to his cowardice. The story is all about him growing as a person and learning how to conquer his fears when encountering the darkness.

Clyde: Age 25. Eddie’s best friend, Clyde is a bright, confident and fearless young rabbit who dreams of becoming a great detective due to his huge passion for mystery and thriller stories. Although intelligent and lighthearted, he can be somewhat arrogant and impulsive which results in him making obvious mistakes in the process, including getting comedically strangled by Leonard who doesn’t take kindly to his shenanigans. Despite his foolishness though, he’s pretty crafty with setting up traps to lure any monsters who tries to harm his friends.

Leonard: Age 35. Eddie’s other best friend, Leonard (also known as Leo by his closest friends) is an adult dog who is seen as the most mature person among the more light-hearted main three cast. He works at a drug store near Eddie’s house and is also his neighbor. A cynical, stoic and aloof tsundere, Leonard dislikes paranormal activities because he finds them useless and boring, but is ultimately dragged into it due to Clyde’s over ambitious attitude and Eddie’s nervous demeanor. He also has a habit of getting into heated conflicts with Clyde because Clyde’s brash personality often gets them into sticky situations, which results in a strangling. However, despite his crabby attitude, Leonard is a good person whose willing to look out for his friends, especially Eddie whenever they’re in trouble. He’s very caring towards Eddie, but he often shows it through affectionate teasing. He loves being patted on the head and having his tummy rubbed.

Hunter: Age 18. A young adult pig who originally was born in Ireland, Hunter is a college-aged anthropomorphic pig with a curious attitude about any fascinating events. He’s mostly known for being Clyde’s best friend because of their love for the paranormal, which Leonard doesn’t take kindly to. Hunter is known for telling scary stories with Clyde being his sidekick to back him up when he has trouble finishing his tales; Eddie, of course, is not pleased with it due to his cowardly attitude and Leonard interrupts the both of them by whacking them with a pan, strangling their necks to stop them from talking and dragging them away by their collars. Despite his paranormal fetish, Hunter is scared of the idea of dying because he detests the idea of seeing loved ones die. He’s always seen carrying his books.
