Ho ho ho, merry sugar rush! Passed down from the sacred archives of Santa's magical workforce of small toy-making Finns (or the sacred archives of a long-discontinued magazine that used to be given away at Pizza Huts across Southern Ontario, whichever sounds more reasonable), here comes my take on an obscure holiday snack recipe that's sure to be a hit with the kids, or anyone who has a relentless sweet tooth!
Ingredients:
- 1 large box of Jello chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups of milk
- 5-6 white chocolate-covered "snowy" Oreos (these can be found in many grocery stores around Christmastime, but they tend to sell out quickly--if you can't get any, use Double Stuf Oreos instead)
- 1 can of whipped cream
- 1 bottle of chocolate syrup
- 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup of mini marshmallows
- 1/4 cup of plain M&Ms
- 1 package of Reeses peanut butter cups (skip this if you're allergic to peanuts)
- Chocolate chip cookies, graham crackers and/or fruit for dipping (some personally recommended fruits include strawberries, bananas, peach slices, cherries and those little Christmas oranges)
Optional toppings:
- Additional whipped cream
- Additional chocolate syrup
- Sprinkles
- Cool Whip
- Anything else you'd like to add!
Recipe:
1. Make the pudding as directed on the box, while mixing in as much or as little whipped cream and chocolate syrup as you want.
2. Let the pudding sit and chill in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.
3. Thoroughly crush the Oreos in a resealable plastic bag with a hammer, meat tenderizer or other blunt object.
4. Cut up the peanut butter cups into small wedges, about 8 each.
5. Bring the pudding out of the fridge and stir in the Oreos, chocolate chips, M&M's, peanut butter cup pieces and mini marshmallows with a wooden spoon.
6. Divide the pudding into individual bowls and top each serving with whatever is desired.
7. Serve alongside any chosen dipping treats.
And there you have it, the perfect fun snack for a holiday party or while watching movies on Christmas Eve or whatever else you want to make it for! And even though this is technically a Christmas recipe, hey, who's gonna stop you from making it whenever you have a craving for it?
