Concept art from a project for Game Design two years ago, in which we had to modify the mechanics of a pre-existing game.. The assignment was first to explain the mechanics of the game with accompanying art, then to create a mod for it that changes those mechanics.

For my game, I selected Magic the Gathering, a trading card game published by Wizards of the Coast. My mod was creating a new "purple" color of mana, along with an accompanying original race, world, and culture/story. Purple mana is produced by "rifts", which are portals leading to the world of the extra-dimensional Rizic.

A dangerous native creature from the Rizic's extra-dimensional home.. Everything consumed by the Voidmaw is transported to another realm, to await its doom. The Voidmaw's appetite in nearly insatiable.
