A self-portrait. It's actually my second attempt to make a painting like this, this year; I scrapped the first one because it just wasn't coming together. I created it for one of those tiny banners on Picarto, which is a lot of work for something so small, but I think it'll make a nice business card too. The mouth was the trickiest part of this whole thing to draw. You'd think after this long, I'd be able to draw cats with my eyes closed, but they're still challenging in some ways. Regardless, it's nice to have a new portrait. I think I'll use it as an avatar as well.
This culminates a year-and-a-bit of art practice, wherein I refined my drawing style, migrated from Photoshop to Clip Studio Paint, and reinvented my painting process. The whole journey has been largely experimental, but has been yielding promising results. I didn't even touch colour for months, and when I did, it took a lot of playing around to find a comfortable methodology. Beyond just rendering things nicer, I've been trying to add more interesting lighting to my work, and also increase the colour saturation.
I'm very happy with how this turned out, and I look forward to painting things that outclass it soon.

*chuckle* Wonderful, now I've got a mental image of a little cat blinking up from a giant-size ballet slipper or the like... sounds like an idea
kernelDecoy would enjoy, at least.
